The Salamander HomeBoost is an intelligent inline mains water booster pump designed to automatically increase water flow to any UK home suffering from poor mains pressure or flow. Its onboard flow turbine continuously monitors the incoming supply and only activates the brushless motor when needed, delivering up to 12 litres per minute at 1.6 bar closed-head pressure to transform slow-filling baths, weak showers, and underperforming combi boilers.

Unlike a conventional shower pump, HomeBoost sits directly on the incoming mains or the combi boiler's cold inlet and never restricts the natural flow of water — if the supply already exceeds 12 l/min, the pump simply idles. Its Quiet Mark-accredited 46dBA operation, compact brass-and-polymer body, and 3-year manufacturer guarantee make it a dependable specification for installers and a low-disruption upgrade for homeowners.

It is not suitable for gravity-fed systems and will not deliver adequate flow to supply an unvented hot water cylinder. Pre-Wired & Ready to Fit

Supplied with a 1.5 metre pre-wired power cable and 3A fuse fitted, plus an inlet strainer. A Part P qualified installer may alternatively wire the pump via a 3A fused spur without affecting the warranty.

Installation requirements that protect your warranty: HomeBoost must be fitted to rigid pipework only (never flexible tap connectors), with the supplied inlet strainer in place and non-return valves fitted to any outlets between the mains stop tap and the pump. Jointing compounds, hemp, and solder fluxes must never contact the pump body — incorrect installation will invalidate the 3-year warranty. Only one HomeBoost may be fitted per household supply, and it must never be connected to communal risers, bore holes, or outdoor storage tanks.

Can HomeBoost be used on a gravity-fed system or unvented cylinder?

No. HomeBoost is designed exclusively for mains-fed applications — either boosting the whole-house mains supply or the mains inlet to a combi boiler. It is not suitable for gravity-fed systems and will not deliver adequate flow to supply an unvented hot water cylinder.

How do I know if my incoming flow rate is low enough to need HomeBoost?

Measure the flow using a jug and timer: collect water from the affected outlet for 10 seconds, then multiply the volume in litres by 6 to get litres per minute. If your reading falls between 3 and 12 l/min, HomeBoost will activate and boost it up to 12 l/min.

What do the LED lights on HomeBoost mean?

On pumps manufactured after December 2024: a steady green top light with a flashing green lower light indicates normal running (faster flash = higher speed); both green lights alternating means sufficient mains flow without the pump running; a steady red top light signals overheat protection; and flashing red lights indicate an internal fault requiring a 30-second power reset.

Does HomeBoost need to be wired by an electrician?

HomeBoost is supplied pre-wired with a plug for connection to an accessible, IET Wiring Regulations-compliant socket. Alternatively, a Part P qualified installer may wire it via a 3A fused spur without invalidating the warranty. All pipework must be cross-bonded for earth continuity in line with IET Regulations.

Is a fittings kit included?

No — connection fittings are sold separately as the HomeBoost Fittings Kit, which includes brass tap connectors, reducers, and an isolating ball valve for smooth installation and future servicing. The pump itself includes only a washer and filter washer.

How do I maintain HomeBoost long-term?

Salamander recommends running the pump for at least five minutes every four weeks to exercise the mechanical seal and prevent scale deposits from causing it to stick. In hard water areas, fitting additional filtration or a water conditioner ahead of the pump is recommended to protect against limescale build-up.
