The Solis S6 Mini 1.5kW single phase inverter (S6-GR1P1.5K-M) is a compact, transformerless grid-tie string inverter built for small domestic solar PV arrays. It pairs a single MPPT tracker with a wide 50–500 V MPPT window and a low 60 V start-up voltage, so it starts generating early in the morning and keeps tracking late into the evening, even on shaded or short strings.
This variant includes the integrated DC isolator, which keeps the wiring simple and gives you a switch-disconnector at the inverter without an extra enclosure. The fanless natural-convection design runs at under 20 dBA, the IP66 enclosure allows mounting indoors or outdoors out of direct sun, and at just 7.4 kg one installer can hang it on the supplied wall bracket.
Safety and grid compliance are built in: integrated AFCI arc-fault detection, DRM logic interface, an integrated Export Power Manager for zero-export or limited-export sites, and grid codes that include G98 and G99. Optional Wi-Fi or GPRS monitoring and RS485 communication complete the package, backed by a 5-year manufacturer warranty that can be extended to 20 years.

Safety and installation
Installation, commissioning and grid-code selection must be carried out by a competent solar installer in line with BS 7671 and the manufacturer manual. Switch the AC supply on before the DC isolator at start-up, and the AC supply off before the DC isolator when stopping. If the inverter faults or the DC inputs are reverse-connected, do not switch the DC isolator off while string current is above 0.5 A; wait for irradiance to fall first. Surfaces can exceed 75°C in operation, so keep the unit out of reach of children. PV modules must be IEC 61730 Class A rated and the PV positive or negative pole must never be earthed.
Compatibility: maximum DC input voltage
The manufacturer documentation supplied with this unit lists a maximum DC input voltage of 600 V, while a more recent datasheet revision lists 550 V. Until you have confirmed the figure for your unit’s firmware and revision, size the string so that open-circuit voltage at the lowest expected site temperature stays below the lower value.
Compatibility: export control hardware
The Export Power Manager works with an optional smart meter or CT sensor, and the manufacturer classes inverters as meter model or CT model due to a hardware difference: a meter model accepts only a meter, a CT model only a CT sensor. Confirm which you need before ordering. Where the inverter is installed in the UK with export control enabled, the fail-safe function must be switched on to satisfy G100.
Good to know: AFCI activation
The integrated AFCI (DC arc-fault protection) requires activation on the inverter. Your installer enables it under the Advanced Settings menu during commissioning; if an arc is detected the inverter shuts down and shows an arc-fault alarm until the DC circuit has been inspected.
Key features
Wide MPPT window, low start-up
A 50–500 V MPPT range with 60 V start-up and a 14 A input handles high-efficiency and bifacial modules and extends daily generation hours.
Fanless and quiet
Natural convection cooling means no fan to fail and a typical noise level under 20 dBA, suitable for mounting close to living spaces.
Integrated DC isolator
The built-in DC switch simplifies installation and isolation, and the MC4 input and quick-connect AC plug keep terminations fast and tidy.
AFCI arc-fault protection
DC arc-fault detection shuts the inverter down on a detected arc to reduce fire risk, alongside reverse-polarity, surge, short-circuit and anti-islanding protection.
Export Power Manager and DRM
Integrated export power management with an optional meter or CT supports zero-export or limited-export sites, and the DRM logic interface meets smart-grid demand-response requirements.
Compact and monitored
310 × 373 × 160 mm, 7.4 kg, IP66, with an LCD, RS485 and optional Wi-Fi or GPRS for remote monitoring on smartphone or PC.

Frequently asked questions
How much PV can I connect to the S6 Mini 1.5kW?
The manufacturer recommends a maximum PV power of 2.3 kW on a single string with a 50–500 V MPPT window and a 14 A input limit. The number of modules depends on the module voltage and current, so check that the string’s cold-weather open-circuit voltage stays within the inverter limit and the operating voltage stays inside the MPPT window.
Is it suitable for UK grid connection?
Yes. The inverter’s grid standards include G98 or G99, and the grid-code list in the manual provides a UK setting for connections under 16 A per phase. At 6.5 A rated output current this model sits comfortably inside that range. Your installer selects the grid code during commissioning and handles the network operator notification.
Can it limit or prevent export to the grid?
Yes. The Export Power Manager is integrated and, with an optional smart meter (direct-connect or external CT type) or a CT sensor, it can hold export at a set level or at zero. The manufacturer supplies meter-model and CT-model inverters, so confirm which hardware you need before ordering. In the UK, enable the fail-safe function when export control is used.
Does the inverter include Wi-Fi monitoring?
Monitoring devices are optional. The inverter has RS485 as standard and supports a Wi-Fi or GPRS communication stick, giving smartphone and PC monitoring. An LCD on the front shows live voltage, current, power and energy totals without any extra hardware.
What is supplied in the box?
The pack contains the inverter, wall mounting bracket, fastening screws, one DC connector pair, an AC connector, an RJ45 connector and the user manual. The Wi-Fi or GPRS stick, smart meter and CT sensor are optional extras.
Where and how should it be installed?
Mount it vertically (maximum ±5° incline) on a solid wall, out of direct sunlight and rain where possible. Allow 300 mm clearance to neighbouring units and 500 mm below, and do not install it in small closed spaces or areas with flammable materials. Use 4.0–6.0 mm² PV cable on the DC side and 2.5–6.0 mm² cable (105°C rated) on the AC side, protected by a 10 A over-current device.
