What T-CAP actually means
Most air source heat pumps lose heating capacity as the outside temperature falls — a 9 kW unit at +7°C might only deliver 6–7 kW at -7°C. T-CAP holds the full nameplate output all the way down to -15°C ambient, so the kW you specify is the kW you get on the coldest night of the year — removing the guesswork (and the temptation to oversize) from sizing for UK winter design conditions.

Which kW should I choose?
Choose the variant that matches your calculated heat loss at your local winter design temperature. As a rough guide: 9 kW for 3–4 bed homes needing reliable cold-weather output; 12 kW for larger 4–5 bed homes; 16 kW for very large or light-commercial properties, or where a 3-phase supply already exists. Because T-CAP holds full capacity down to -15°C, you generally don't need to oversize for cold-weather margin the way you might with a standard monobloc.
What's the difference between T-CAP and the standard J Generation?
The standard J Generation (5/7/9 kW) loses some capacity as it gets colder and the flow temperature needed rises — see our J Generation listing. T-CAP is specifically engineered to hold full rated output all the way to -15°C ambient, making it the better choice for larger properties, higher heat-loss buildings, or anywhere reliable output on the coldest days matters most.
Can I choose 1-phase or 3-phase?
The 9 kW and 12 kW variants are 1-phase only. The 16 kW variant is 3-phase only — check your property's electrical supply before ordering.
Does this need a separate Wi-Fi module?
Yes — the CZ-TAW1C or CZ-TAW2 Wi-Fi adapter is sold separately for full smartphone app access. The unit ships with a standard wired remote controller.
Do I need to be MCS-registered to install this?
