The Mixergy 210L R290 iHP Integrated Heat Pump Cylinder (MX-210-IH2-579) is a smart unvented hot water cylinder with an integrated indoor R290 air-to-water heat pump — no outdoor unit, no separate plant room. Part of Mixergy's iHP X R290 range, it combines a Duplex stainless steel cylinder with a top-mounted heat pump head using patented top-down stratified heating to deliver usable hot water in under 30 minutes — up to 10× faster than conventional integrated HP cylinders — while consuming around three times less electricity than a direct electric cylinder. The cylinder connects to the Mixergy app for machine-learning schedules, time-of-use tariff optimisation, and live hot water level monitoring.

⚠️ Installer Requirements: Must be installed and commissioned by a G3-qualified installer in accordance with Mixergy's iHP X installation manual and current Building Regulations. Electrical connections must comply with BS 7671. F-Gas work on the refrigerant circuit requires F-Gas certification.
ℹ️ Ductwork: The iHP requires a 150mm duct (intake) and 150mm duct (exhaust) connected to the outside of the building. Both ducts should be insulated to prevent condensation. The unit is not suitable for rooms without external wall access for ductwork. Minimum room volume as per Mixergy installation guidance.
📱 App Required: The Mixergy app (iOS/Android) is required for smart scheduling and monitoring. The cylinder connects via a Powerline-to-Ethernet adapter — a broadband router connection is required near the cylinder location. It can also operate as a standard cylinder without app connectivity.
Frequently Asked Questions
How quickly does the Mixergy 210L heat water?
The patented top-down stratification means usable hot water is available at the tap in under 30 minutes from a cold start — even before the whole cylinder is heated. A 70% charge reheat (15–50°C) takes approximately 164 minutes; a full 100% reheat takes approximately 234 minutes. This is up to 10× faster than conventional integrated HP cylinders for initial availability.
Does the Mixergy need an outdoor heat pump unit?
No. The R290 heat pump is fully integrated into the cylinder head — the entire unit is indoors. Air is drawn in via a 150mm duct from outside and discharged back outside via a second 150mm duct. No separate outdoor unit, refrigerant pipework, or commissioning by an F-Gas engineer is required for the air circuit.
What is the CoP and energy rating?
The Mixergy 210L iHP achieves a CoP of 3.4 under standard test conditions — delivering around 3.4 kWh of heat for every 1 kWh of electricity consumed. It is ErP A+ rated and uses approximately three times less electricity than a comparable direct electric cylinder.
Is it compatible with Agile / time-of-use tariffs?
Yes. The Mixergy app has built-in support for time-of-use tariffs including Octopus Agile and Economy 7. Machine learning automatically schedules heating during the cheapest tariff periods, typically overnight, to minimise running costs.
What qualifications does the installer need?
A current G3 qualification is required for unvented cylinder work. Electrical connection requires a competent electrician complying with BS 7671. No F-Gas certification is needed for the iHP air circuit as the refrigerant is factory-charged and the circuit is sealed.
What warranty applies?
