The Stäubli MC4-Evo 2 In-Line Fuse 20A (32.0330, type PV-K/1500ILF3-20/6E-0059) is a factory-assembled string fuse for solar PV circuits rated at 1500 V DC. It contains a 20 A gPV fuse link and is fitted with original MC4-Evo 2 connectors on 6 mm² cable with a 59 cm overall lead length, so it plugs straight into a string and protects the modules and cabling from overcurrent without any fuse-holder wiring on site.
Instead of conventional omega-style clips, the fuse link is joined with a crimped connection, which Stäubli designs for a long-lasting, stable connection with minimal energy loss and low heat generation. The housing is a vulcanised IP68-rated enclosure (1 m, 1 h when mated) made from PA, EVA and XLPE insulation, with tin-plated copper contacts and a maximum contact resistance below 0.25 mΩ.
The unit is TÜV Rheinland certified to 2PfG 2380, the fuse link is gPV certified to IEC 60269-6, and the product is rated for 8 kV test voltage, safety class II and overvoltage category CAT III. It is intended for string protection in residential, commercial and ground-mount PV arrays wherever the design calls for overcurrent protection on each string.

Safety - isolate before you touch anything
Solar strings stay live whenever light falls on the modules. Never disconnect the in-line fuse under load and de-energise the PV system before mating or unmating any connector. Installation must be carried out by a competent person in line with BS 7671 (including Section 712) and the manufacturer's installation manual. Never reconnect a string without its in-line fuse if the fuse has been disconnected, never bypass it with a parallel line or another fuse, and never use a unit that is visibly damaged.
Compatibility - genuine Stäubli connectors only
Mate only with original Stäubli MC4 or MC4-Evo 2 cable couplers and panel receptacles. Never connect Stäubli connectors to those of other manufacturers, because the rated current and voltage of the combination depend on the mating connectors used. Choose the fuse rating in line with the applicable standards and the maximum series fuse rating on your solar module datasheet.
Temperature - 50°C ambient limit
The wider MC4-Evo 2 connector range is rated to +85°C, but this fuse has an ambient temperature range of -40°C to +50°C (upper limiting temperature 115°C). Allow for this on hot roofs and in enclosed or bundled cable runs, and check the manufacturer's installation manual for its note on bundled installations.
Accessories to note
Unmated connector ends should be protected with sealing caps: manufacturer order numbers 32.0716 (socket) and 32.0717 (plug). For MC4-Evo 2 connectors, the manufacturer's assembly and unlocking tool is the PV-MS-PLS (32.6058).
