The Lite Work Designs Heat Pump Mover is a purpose-built wheeled mover for air source heat pumps that lets a single installer take a heavy outdoor unit from the delivery point to its final position without lifting it, without a forklift and without calling in extra hands. The unit is strapped to the Mover at the compressor end, where its normal rubber foot would sit, so the Mover becomes a physical extension of the heat pump and carries the weight on off-road pneumatic wheels.
Heat pumps are heavy, top-heavy and uneven, with the compressor end far heavier than the fan end. That is why they cause so many manual handling injuries and damaged fins. With a 272 kg safe working load and a 600 mm wide load bay, the Mover handles boxed or unboxed heat pumps, hot water cylinders, inverters and PV or thermal storage batteries. At only 8 kg it lives happily in the back of a van alongside the rest of your kit.

Safety and manual handling
Complete a risk assessment for every installation and wear suitable PPE (boots and gloves). The Mover is a handling aid, not a lifting device: the pump is still raised using its own lift straps to seat it on the Mover. If the pull weight at the handle exceeds the HSE 25 kg guideline, fit both pull handles and use two operators. If the pump becomes unstable at any point, stop and lower it to the ground before reassessing.
Compatibility check before you order
The load bay takes units up to 600 mm wide, and the pump needs a flat underside with feet so it can be seated and strapped at the compressor end. Total load must not exceed 272 kg. For narrower internal doorway access, or for wider or heavier units, the manufacturer produces other Mover models: contact our team to confirm what suits your job.
Regulatory position
The manufacturer states that the Mover is powered only by human effort, so it is not classed as machinery, and that it supports PUWER 1998 and the Manual Handling Operations Regulations by giving employers purpose-built equipment for moving heat pumps.
Key features
Lone-worker handling
Designed so one installer can unpack, move and position the pump without waiting for colleagues or arranging a forklift.
Carries the weight
The manufacturer states the Mover takes 80% or more of the pump's weight, leaving you to steer rather than lift.
All-terrain pneumatic wheels
Off-road wheels cope with mud, grass, gravel, puddles and site debris, plus narrow gates and inclines.
Secure strap-down
The pump's metal foot seats in the baseboard recess and a ratchet securing strap locks it in place before you pull.
Recycled and van-friendly
Baseboard and arches are 100% recycled household plastic, and at 8 kg the Mover is easy to carry and store.
Examined and warranted
Independently examined with no defects at a 540 kg proof load, and backed by a 3 year warranty on original parts (excluding wheels and tyres).
What you can move with it
Anything up to 600 mm wide and within the 272 kg load rating, boxed or unboxed:
Air source heat pumps
Hot water cylinders
Integrated units
Inverters
PV batteries
Thermal storage units
HVAC units
How it works
1
Check the Mover. Confirm all bolts are tight, the straps are undamaged and the tyres are at 30 psi.
2
Prepare the pump. Unbolt it from the pallet and fit the pump's rubber foot at the fan end.
3
Seat it on the Mover. Lift the compressor end using the pump's lift straps, remove its rubber foot and lower the pump's metal foot into the baseboard recess.
4
Strap it down. Tighten the ratchet securing strap until the pump cannot lift or shift, without exceeding 50 kg of strap tension.
5
Pull to position. Fit the pull handle to the loop that lets you lift with straight arms and your legs, then pull or push the pump to its final location at walking pace.
6
Remove the Mover. Undo the strap, lift the pump with its own lift straps, slide the Mover out and refit the pump's rubber foot.

Care and maintenance
Each month check that all bolts are tight, tyres are at 30 psi and the straps are undamaged. Wash with warm soapy water, apply a light oil to the wheel bearings and ratchet mechanism, and tighten wheel nuts with a 24 mm socket (not supplied). Protect the heat exchanger fins while moving the pump, as they are easily damaged.
Frequently asked questions
What size and weight of heat pump can the Mover carry?
The load bay takes units up to 600 mm wide, with a total load of up to 272 kg. The pump needs a flat underside with feet so it can be seated at the compressor end and strapped down.
Can one person really move a heat pump with it?
Yes, it is designed for a lone worker. If the lift weight at the pull handle exceeds the HSE 25 kg guideline, fit the second pull handle and have two operators pull together.
Is it suitable for muddy or uneven sites?
Yes. The off-road pneumatic wheels are built for mud, grass, gravel, puddles and site debris. Keep to walking pace, keep side tilt within 5 degrees, and on particularly rough ground stop after each major obstacle so side-swing momentum cannot build up.
Can I use it for batteries, cylinders or inverters?
Yes. Any payload up to 600 mm wide within the 272 kg rating works, including boxed pumps, integrated units, water cylinders, inverters and PV or thermal storage batteries. If you need to get through narrow internal doorways, contact our team about the manufacturer's narrower Mover models.
What maintenance does it need?
A quick monthly check of bolts, tyre pressure (30 psi) and straps. Two Allen keys are supplied for the securing nuts. Damaged items such as straps can be replaced through the manufacturer.
What warranty is included and how do I claim?
The Mover carries a 3 year warranty on original supplied parts, excluding wheels and tyres, which can be damaged by your working environment. Keep your proof of purchase and contact our team to start a claim.
