Frequently Asked Questions

Where should the Kidde K2007 smoke alarm be installed?

This optical smoke alarm is designed for bedrooms, living rooms, hallways and corridors. Always follow the manufacturer’s user guide and current UK fire safety guidance when selecting alarm positions.

Does the battery need replacing?

No. The K2007 uses a sealed in 3V lithium battery designed to last for the alarm’s 10 year life. When the end of life notification sounds, the complete alarm should be replaced.

Can cooking fumes or steam trigger the alarm?

Cooking fumes or steam can sometimes cause nuisance activation. The Hush button can temporarily silence the alarm, but for kitchens and similar areas a dedicated heat alarm is usually the better choice.

How is the alarm tested?

Press the Test/Reset button to check that the alarm is operating correctly. Regular testing helps confirm that the smoke alarm remains ready to provide a warning.

Can it be used in a caravan or camping trailer?

Yes. Kidde designed the K2007 for use in private homes, camping trailers and caravans, with battery operation making installation straightforward without mains wiring.
