The Ideal Heating Magnetic System Filter (236911) is a 28mm full-flow magnetic filter designed for the Logic Air heat pump range, protecting the heating circuit from the magnetite and general debris that erode efficiency and shorten component life. Fitted with a powerful neodymium magnet housed in a dry pocket, the filter captures both ferrous and suspended particulate before it reaches sensitive heat exchanger and pump surfaces.

Its compact, high-capacity body is engineered for fast, tool-free cleaning and simple chemical dosing directly through the integral drain valve, with no lid to remove and therefore no associated leak risk. Flexible connection options and unlimited pipework orientation make it straightforward to fit on new installs or as a retrofit upgrade ahead of a heat pump changeover.

A quality chemical inhibitor must be used alongside this filter to protect against ongoing system corrosion. The warranty is void if the system is found not to contain an inhibitor, and inhibitor levels should be checked annually.

Ideal recommends fitting it on the return leg of the heating circuit, between the last radiator and the boiler or heat pump, for optimum protection. It can also be fitted anywhere on the circuit before the appliance if this position isn't accessible.

Does this filter work with sealed and open vented systems?

Yes. The filter is suitable for both combi/sealed systems and open vented systems, with slightly different recommended fitting points for each, detailed in the manufacturer installation guide.

How do I dose inhibitor through this filter?

Dosing is carried out via the integral drain valve: switch off the boiler, remove the drain valve cap, attach the dosing method, open the valve, dose the system, then close the valve and replace the cap before switching the boiler back on.

How often does the filter need to be serviced?
