The Grundfos Home Booster is a self-contained cold water booster set for domestic properties where the mains supply cannot meet the demand of a pressurised hot and cold water system. It combines a stainless steel Grundfos CM pump, an integral 200 litre storage tank (180 litres usable) with a Type AB air gap, and a PM2 Pressure Manager controller in one packaged set, ready for installation.
Two models are available. The 3.0 Bar Water Booster Set (MD300200) is fitted with a CM 3-4 I pump and delivers 3.0 bar at 0.5 l/s. The 4.5 Bar Water Booster Set (MD450200) is fitted with a CM 3-6 I pump and delivers 4.5 bar at 0.5 l/s. Both suit most homes with one or two standard bathrooms, or an en-suite and cloakroom, plus normal household appliances.
The compact footprint makes it ideal where space is at a premium, typically a utility room or garage. Installation needs only the mains cold water supply, discharge pipe, overflow pipe and a plug-in electrical connection, and the wetted components are WRAS approved.

Water Regulations
The tank is fitted with a Type AB air gap in accordance with the Water Byelaws. Any bypass arrangement must be installed strictly in accordance with the Water Byelaws Regulations and drained when not in use to prevent stagnation. A bypass must not be installed when pumping a non-potable CAT 5 contaminated liquid. Electrical connection and any new supply should be carried out by a competent person in line with BS 7671.
Siting and sizing
Not recommended for loft or attic installation. Install in a dry, well ventilated, frost-free position on a solid, level, flat base that can carry the weight of the full tank (up to 246 kg), with 0.5 m clearance on the right-hand side and above for servicing. For larger properties the manufacturer recommends the Grundfos Max-E Boost; fitting two Home Boosters together to increase flow is not recommended.
Choosing your model
The MD300200 duty is 3.0 bar at 0.5 l/s or 2 bar at 0.8 l/s. The MD450200 duty is 4.5 bar at 0.5 l/s or 3 bar at 0.8 l/s. Discharge pressure can be regulated with a separate pressure reducing valve if required, and the PM2 cut-in pressure is adjustable in 0.5 bar steps.
Key Features
Integral 200 L Storage Tank
200 litre polypropylene tank with 180 litres usable volume and a Type AB air gap. A 2 inch BSPF connection at the rear allows an optional 180 litre slave tank to be added.
Stainless Steel CM Pump
304 grade stainless steel wetted parts for high efficiency, sustained performance, long working life and quiet operation. CM 3-4 I (3.0 bar) or CM 3-6 I (4.5 bar).
PM2 Pressure Manager
Electronic on/off control with a pressure transducer and flow switch. Indicators show pressure, pump status and fault, with a reset button on the controller.
Pump Protection
The PM2 provides dry run protection if the tank runs out of water, and also protects the pump if it becomes air locked or seized.
8 Litre Pressure Vessel
An integral 8 litre pressure vessel with a butyl rubber diaphragm maintains pressure while the pump is off, preventing unnecessary starts on small draw-offs.
Packaged and Ready to Fit
Supplied as a complete set with a 5 m mains cable and 5A fused plug. Connections are mains cold water, 22 mm discharge, 22 mm overflow and power. WRAS approved components.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the MD300200 and the MD450200?
The MD300200 uses a CM 3-4 I pump for a nominal 3.0 bar at 0.5 l/s, while the MD450200 uses a CM 3-6 I pump for a nominal 4.5 bar at 0.5 l/s. The tank, controller, connections and footprint are the same. The 4.5 bar model draws more power (870 W against 588 W) and is slightly heavier.
What size of property is the Home Booster suitable for?
It suits most domestic properties with one or two standard bathrooms with standard fittings, or an en-suite and cloakroom, plus other normal household appliances. For larger properties the manufacturer recommends the Grundfos Max-E Boost, and installing two Home Boosters together to increase flow is not recommended.
Can I increase the water storage?
Yes. An optional 180 litre slave tank (MCST0200) connects to the 2 inch BSPF connection at the rear of the tank. It is recommended for properties with 4 to 5 occupants, or where the tank refills slowly because of poor mains water pressure.
Where can the Home Booster be installed?
Site it in a dry, well ventilated, frost-free position such as a utility room or garage, on a solid, level, flat surface that can support the weight of the water tank. Allow 0.5 m clearance on the right-hand side and above. It is not recommended for a loft or attic.
How does the PM2 controller protect the pump?
The PM2 Pressure Manager starts the pump when pressure falls to the cut-in setting and stops it shortly after flow ceases. It provides dry run protection if the tank runs out of water and protects the pump if it becomes air locked or seized. Indicators show pressure, pump status and fault, with a reset button.
What connections are needed to install it?
You need the mains cold water supply (1/2 inch BSPM), a 22 mm push fit discharge, a 22 mm solvent weld overflow and a 240V power supply via the supplied 5 m cable with 5A fused plug. Any bypass must be fitted in accordance with the Water Byelaws Regulations.
