The ESBE ARA661 and ESBE ARA662 are compact 230 V AC 3-point (floating) rotary valve actuators from the ESBE ARA600 series, designed to drive ESBE rotary mixing valves from DN 15 to DN 50. Each delivers 6 Nm of torque over a 90° operating range with a 120-second running time, a smooth, steady pace that suits underfloor heating mixing circuits, radiator mixing loops and boiler return protection.
The two models are electrically identical. The ARA662 adds a factory pre-mounted auxiliary switch, rated 6(3) A 250 V AC, which can be set to any position, ideal for switching a pump, boiler or alarm at a defined valve position. Both are supplied with a 1.5 m connection cable and the adaptor kit for ESBE rotary valves, and the valve can be moved by hand using the pull-and-turn manual override knob.

Safety and regulatory
This actuator operates on 230 V AC mains. Installation and wiring must be carried out by a competent person in accordance with BS 7671. The manufacturer requires a multi-pole contact breaker ahead of the actuator in the fixed installation. Isolate the supply before removing the knob or making any connection.
Compatibility check
These are 230 V AC models with a 3-point (floating) control signal. They are not modulating and cannot be driven by a 0-10 V signal. Confirm that your controller provides a 3-point SPDT output and that your valve is an ESBE rotary type before ordering. The ARA661 has no auxiliary switch; choose the ARA662 if you need one.
Good to know
The auxiliary switch is set without tools: lift off the turning knob and rotate the green cam sleeve to the required position. A matching auxiliary switch kit and cable hatch are also available from the manufacturer as optional extras.
Key features
Precise, stable regulation
The patented interface between the ARA600 actuator and ESBE VRG and VRB valves gives the complete unit exceptional stability and precision when regulating.
6 Nm over 90°
A 6 Nm drive with a 90° operating range handles the full ESBE rotary mixing valve range from DN 15 to DN 50.
Manual override
The valve can be operated by hand using the pull-and-turn knob on the front, useful for commissioning, flushing and fault finding.
Auxiliary switch (ARA662)
The ARA662 includes a pre-mounted auxiliary switch that can be set to any position, with a 6(3) A 250 V AC rating and its own separate cable.
Fits a wide range of ESBE valves
Suits ESBE series VRG, VRB, VRH, MG, G, F (up to DN 50), BIV, T, TM, H and HG, and is supplied with the adaptor kit for easy fitting.
Compact and ready to wire
A lightweight 0.4 kg body with an attached 1.5 m cable and surface mounting keeps installation quick and tidy.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the ARA661 and the ARA662?
Both have the same 230 V AC supply, 6 Nm torque and 120 s running time. The ARA662 comes with a pre-mounted auxiliary switch, while the ARA661 does not.
Which valves will these actuators fit?
They are designed for ESBE rotary mixing valves DN 15-50, including series VRG, VRB, VRH, MG, G, F (up to DN 50), BIV, T, TM, H and HG. An adaptor kit for ESBE valves is supplied. Separate adaptor kits are also available for selected Meibes, Watts, Honeywell Corona, Lovato and PAW mixing valves.
Can I use a 0-10 V or modulating controller?
No. These actuators are 3-point (floating) types and need a controller with a 3-point SPDT output. They are recommended by the manufacturer for mixing applications.
How do I set the auxiliary switch position?
Remove the turning knob and rotate the green cam sleeve to the position where the switch should operate. No tools or disassembly are needed. ARA661 users can add the optional auxiliary switch kit.
Can I turn the valve by hand?
Yes. Use the pull-and-turn knob on the front of the actuator to move the valve manually, for example during commissioning or fault finding.
What wiring and isolation does it need?
The actuator should be preceded by a multi-pole contact breaker in the fixed installation and wired by a competent person to BS 7671. The ARA662 has two separate cables, one for actuator control and one for the auxiliary switch.
