Description

The Drayton Wiser Underfloor Heating Controller (WF762F1A0902) brings hydronic (water-based) underfloor heating into the Wiser smart heating system, so underfloor loops and radiators can be scheduled and controlled from one app. A single controller manages up to 6 zones and up to 14 normally-closed 230V thermal actuators, and it includes boiler and pump contacts so the heat source only runs when a zone is calling.

The controller talks to the Wiser HubR over 2.4GHz bi-directional wireless (ZigBee), so there is no signalling cable between the manifold and the room thermostats. Each zone is regulated by its own Wiser Room Thermostat. Add up to 3 controllers to one system for up to 16 zones, and use it with a reversible heat pump thanks to the heating/cooling input. It ships with a DIN rail and a remote antenna, and works with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and IFTTT through the Wiser Home app.

Electrical installation

Installation must be carried out by a qualified, competent electrician in line with BS 7671 and the wiring diagram on the product. The controller is for fixed wiring only. Isolate the mains before opening the cover; some terminals can remain live even with the controller's own supply switched off.

Required, sold separately

A Wiser HubR, one Wiser Room Thermostat per zone and 230V normally-closed thermal actuators fitted to the manifold are all needed for a working system. None of these are supplied with the controller. The box contains the controller, DIN rail, remote antenna and installer guide.

Why choose the Wiser UFH Controller

Multi-zone hydronic control

Controls 6 independent zones per controller with 14 actuator outputs. Channels 1 and 2 can be associated with one room thermostat so a large room can drive up to 8 actuators.

Heating and cooling

Apply 230V to the heating/cooling input and the system switches to cooling. A dew sensor input turns cooling off if condensation is detected, and rooms such as bathrooms can be excluded from cooling in the app.

Boiler and pump control

A normally-open boiler relay (volt-free, or switched live 230V to a zone valve) and a pump contact. The pump runs for 2 minutes after the last valve closes, plus a short weekly pump exercise.

Overload protection

Channels switch one after the other with a delay (30 seconds) so every actuator never opens at once, and an internal 3.15A fuse protects the actuator outputs against short circuits.

Wiring test and offline commissioning

A built-in channel test opens selected or all valves for up to 4 hours, and doubles as an emergency mode. Per-channel LEDs show call for heat, delay and faults. The system can be set up without Wi-Fi.

Mixed radiator and UFH systems

Add Wiser Radiator Thermostats for a complete wet system. Set individual schedules per room, manual and away modes, and Eco mode and geofencing through the cloud features.

Cooling mode in detail

Only one heating/cooling input is required even with several controllers; the whole system changes to cooling together. Only rooms with underfloor heating will cool. An optional remote floor sensor (Drayton remote sensor 193720) can act as a high or low floor limit on one zone, and the Drayton dew sensor (193683) clips to the manifold.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a Wiser HubR?

Yes. The controller joins the system through a Wiser HubR, which also serves radiator thermostats, room thermostats and other Wiser devices. Up to 3 UFH controllers can share one hub.

What is needed for each zone?

Each zone needs one Wiser Room Thermostat to measure room temperature, plus one or more thermal actuators fitted to the manifold loops for that room. The controller opens and closes the actuators and calls for heat from the boiler and pump.

Can it cool as well as heat?

Yes. With a reversible heat pump, apply 230V to the heating/cooling input and the system changes to cooling. The dew sensor input can stop cooling when condensation is detected, and individual rooms can be excluded from cooling in the app.

Can I commission it without Wi-Fi?

Yes. The wiring can be tested with or without the app, and Wiser can be installed and used without internet access by connecting directly to the hub at home. Remote access is not available in that mode.

How many actuators can I connect?

14 in total per controller: up to 4 each on channels 1 and 2, up to 2 each on channels 3 and 4, and 1 each on channels 5 and 6.

Can it run a system with underfloor heating only?

Yes. For a UFH-only system you can choose in the Wiser Home app whether the boiler is controlled by the boiler output on the controller or by the heating output on the HubR.
