The Drayton Wiser Electrical Heat Switch (WE714U1A0902) is a hard-wired smart switching device that brings resistive electric heating appliances into a Wiser smart heating system. Electric underfloor heating, electric radiators, towel rails and infrared panel heaters can all be scheduled and controlled remotely through the Wiser Home app, alongside any wet central heating zones already on the same system.
With a 16A relay rated for loads up to 3680W, it covers everything from a bathroom towel rail to a full electric underfloor heating circuit. Because it's hard-wired rather than battery-powered, it also acts as a permanent ZigBee range extender, strengthening the wireless mesh for every other Wiser device in the home. One Wiser Room Thermostat and one Wiser HubR are required per heat switch to bring temperature-based control online — both are sold separately.
⚠ Important Safety Information: This device is not a Safety Extra Low Voltage (SELV) device — the floor sensor lines are on 230V AC mains. Only sensors with an appropriate insulation rating from the approved list may be used. It must be installed by a qualified electrician in accordance with current IET Wiring Regulations (BS7671), using fixed wiring only. The switch is designed for resistive heating loads only and must not be used to control inductive loads such as motors, compressors, fans or fluorescent lighting.
ℹ Good to Know: The Electrical Heat Switch cannot operate as a standalone timer. A Wiser Room Thermostat and a Wiser HubR (any generation) are both required for temperature-based control. For electric underfloor heating specifically, a compatible remote floor sensor is also required to set high/low temperature limits.
16A / 3680W Relay
Switches resistive electrical heating loads safely at up to 16 amps, sufficient for most residential electric heating circuits including UFH, radiators and towel rails.
Hard-Wired ZigBee Range Extender
Being permanently mains-powered, the heat switch also extends ZigBee signal throughout the home on the 2.4GHz band, improving mesh reliability for all nearby Wiser devices.
Remote Floor Sensor Input
Dedicated terminals accept a remote NTC floor sensor — 33kΩ Drayton (ref 193720), 10kΩ ELKO (ref 5491605), or 15kΩ DEVI (ref 140F1091) — to monitor and limit floor surface temperature on electric UFH systems.
App & Voice Control
Schedule and control from anywhere using the Wiser Home app, with compatibility for Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and IFTTT.
IP44 Rated
Achieves IP44 ingress protection in laboratory testing, suitable for bathrooms and other damp environments, subject to local wiring regulations. A tight seal between the rubber grommets and cable sheath is essential to maintain this rating on site.
Manual Override & LED Status
A press of the button toggles the output on or off even before pairing, with amber LED indication when the output is active — useful for commissioning and testing before the Wiser system is fully configured.

Do I need a Wiser Room Thermostat as well?
Yes. The Electrical Heat Switch cannot operate as a standalone device. A Wiser Room Thermostat is required for temperature-based control — without it the switch only functions as a simple on/off device.
Do I need a floor sensor for electric underfloor heating?
Yes. For electric UFH, a remote floor sensor is required and must be set up in the Wiser app. Compatible sensors are the Drayton 33kΩ (ref 193720), ELKO 10kΩ (ref 5491605), or DEVI 15kΩ (ref 140F1091). Use of any other sensor type is not recommended.
Can I control multiple electric heaters with one heat switch?
One Wiser Electrical Heat Switch controls one electrical heating device or circuit. A separate heat switch (and Room Thermostat) is required for each independently controlled zone or device.
Is this device SELV / low voltage?
No. The Electrical Heat Switch is not a SELV device — the sensor lines are on 230V AC mains. It must only be installed by a qualified electrician using fixed wiring in accordance with BS7671.
