Should I choose the 16S or the 14S?
The choice is straightforward once you quantify your peak demand. The 14S (28kW, 14 L/min) suits a 1–2 bathroom property with normal sequential use — one shower or one bath at a time. The 16S (30kW, 16 L/min) provides approximately 14% more peak flow capacity and is the better choice for properties with two bathrooms used concurrently, a large-volume shower head, or a busy kitchen alongside a bathroom in simultaneous use.
As a practical guide: at a typical UK winter cold inlet of ~10°C, the 16S delivers approximately 9.5 L/min at a comfortable 42°C outlet — sufficient for a good-flow shower and a running basin simultaneously. Both models are physically identical in size and use identical connections; the 16S costs marginally more but provides meaningful headroom for peak demand scenarios.
Does this heater work without mains electricity?
No. The Biasi Multipoint 16S requires a 230V ~ 50Hz mains supply for the microcomputer control system, the DC fan (forced combustion air and post-ventilation), the electronic ignition, and the LCD display. The unit will not ignite during a power cut — no electrical supply means no fan, no ignition, and no combustion.
A switchable fused spur must be installed adjacent to the appliance and must comply with current IEE Wiring Regulations. The socket or spur must not be located below the unit or in a position susceptible to water splashes. What flue kit do I need?
The Biasi Multipoint 16S uses a 60/100 mm coaxial flue system. For a standard horizontal through-wall installation (C13), you need a 60/100 mm horizontal flue kit supplying the terminal, coaxial pipe, elbow, seals, and wall fixings. For vertical roof discharge (C33), the appropriate vertical terminal kit is required.
For longer runs or routes that require bends around obstacles, extension pipes and additional 90° or 45° elbows are available from Biasi. Maximum permitted flue lengths vary with the number of bends — consult the installation manual's flue duct length table before finalising the installation position. The flue must terminate in a location complying with Building Regulations Part J and must not discharge into a common flue system.
How do I register the guarantee and what does it cover?
The 2-year parts and labour guarantee must be registered by calling Biasi UK on 01922 714600 within 30 days of purchase. Have your installer's Gas Safe registration details ready — Biasi require these to validate the warranty.
The guarantee covers manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship where the appliance has been installed and commissioned in accordance with the Biasi installation manual and the Benchmark commissioning checklist has been completed. It does not cover damage from installation errors, use of the incorrect gas type, inadequate water quality, or failure to carry out the recommended annual service. Can the unit be converted from natural gas to LPG?
Yes — the Multipoint 16S can be converted between natural gas (G20) and LPG (G30 butane / G31 propane) using the appropriate Biasi conversion kit. What do the fault codes on the display mean, and what should I do?
When the onboard diagnostics detect an abnormal condition the LCD screen displays a flashing fault code rather than simply stopping without explanation. For most codes, the recommended first step is: close the hot water outlet, press the On/Off button to switch the unit off, wait a few seconds, switch back on, then reopen the outlet. This clears transient faults such as ignition failure after a gas interruption, where air in the supply pipe causes several retry cycles before the flame establishes.
If the fault code persists after two or three attempts, turn off the gas valve and cut the power, and contact your Gas Safe registered engineer.
