Description

The ADEY ElectroScale2 15mm Compression Scale Reducer (SR1-03-05214) is a non-polluting electrolytic water conditioner that delivers whole-house protection against limescale in homes and small commercial properties. As water passes through its internal electrolytic cell, the crystal structure of the limescale is altered, making it less likely to stick to pipes and other surfaces and helping to protect your boiler and hot water system.

Designed for properties where water hardness is above 200 ppm, ElectroScale2 needs no mains power and no servicing – a genuine fit-and-forget solution backed by a 10-year warranty. The 15mm copper compression connection (BS EN 1254-2) with two easy-grip spanner flats fits standard 15mm copper pipework, and the unit can be installed on horizontal or vertical pipework.

Installation meets the requirements of Part L of the Building Regulations, which state that provision must be made to treat the feed water to water heaters and the hot water circuit of combination boilers to reduce the rate of limescale accumulation. The unit is WRAS approved and KIWA approved.

Best protection: where to fit it

For the best limescale protection, install ElectroScale2 on the incoming cold water supply, after the water meter and any primary filter (if fitted), so that everything downstream is protected.

Cold feed only

ElectroScale2 is rated for cold feed use only and has a minimum working temperature of 3°C. Do not fit it on hot water pipework, and do not solder near the unit – flux residue and heat may cause damage.

Regulations and earth continuity

Fit in accordance with WRAS installation requirements and use only WRAS-approved jointing compounds. Where required by current wiring regulations, fit a suitable earth bonding cable to bypass the unit to maintain earth continuity. Installation by a qualified heating engineer is recommended.

Manufacturer guidance at a glance

1. Turn off the water supply and drain the system.
2. Ensure the unit is supported and braced rigidly.
3. Hold the unit on its flats while tightening – hand tighten the nuts, then a further ½ to 1 turn with a suitable spanner, or tighten the 15mm nuts to 35 Nm. Do not over-tighten.
4. Reconnect the water supply and check for leaks.
Also: where possible, avoid reusing old pipes, and fit a pressure reducing valve on the incoming mains to maintain constant water pressure.
