Energy Class A WiFi Smart Control 80 Litres
The Quality Heating QH Performance WiFi Dual 80 Litre Electric Water Heater is a premium, wall-mounted hot water storage cylinder combining smart WiFi programming with a large 80-litre capacity β perfect for households requiring a reliable, gas-free hot water supply. Rated Energy Class A, it belongs to the top-tier Performance / Extra Life series, offering intelligent scheduling, superior insulation, and flexible horizontal or vertical installation.
The built-in Smart Key function learns your household's hot water usage patterns over the first week and automatically adjusts heating schedules to match your routine β reducing standby energy use without compromising comfort. Combined with WiFi connectivity for remote control via smartphone, this is one of the most capable electric water heaters available for all-electric and gas-free properties.
Why Buy the QH Performance WiFi Dual 80L?
Suitable For
Product Description
The QH Performance WiFi Dual 80L stores 80 litres of water. When heated to 65Β°C and blended to a comfortable 37Β°C shower temperature, the cylinder delivers approximately 222 litres of usable hot water per cycle β more than sufficient for two to three occupants covering bathroom, kitchen, and laundry use throughout the day.
The unit can be installed either vertically or horizontally, giving installers maximum flexibility. When mounted horizontally, the hot water outlet must be positioned at the top of the cylinder to ensure correct stratification and prevent air locks. The 1.5-metre mains lead can connect via a 13A fused connection unit, or the plug removed for permanent hardwired connection to a dedicated circuit β all electrical work must be carried out by a Part P-registered electrician.
The SPCC steel inner vessel is protected by a robust enamel coating, with a magnesium sacrificial anode providing an additional layer of corrosion defence. An audible and visual anode condition alarm alerts the user when the anode is due for replacement, helping to extend the working life of the cylinder significantly. The six-level safety system includes an independent thermal cut-out, adjustable thermostat, and the supplied pressure relief valve (PRV), which must be plumbed to a safe discharge point during installation.
π± Smart Key & WiFi Programming
The Smart Key function is activated by holding the dedicated button (top-right of the display) for three seconds. After one week of use, the cylinder analyses your hot water draw patterns and automatically builds a heating schedule to match your routine β heating the water just in time, reducing unnecessary standby losses. Combined with WiFi remote control, you can adjust temperature, set boost modes, or modify schedules from your smartphone even when away from home.
Tip: We recommend activating Smart Key after the first full week of normal use so the learning algorithm has sufficient data to optimise accurately.
The 40 mm polyurethane foam insulation jacket (Ξ» = 0.22 W/mK) minimises standby heat losses, while the Energy Class A rating confirms this cylinder operates at the highest efficiency tier β translating directly to lower electricity bills compared to lower-rated alternatives, particularly for Economy 7 or time-of-use tariff users.

Installation & Trade Notes
This unit is designed for use with a vented (low-pressure) cold water supply. The supplied pressure relief valve (PRV) must be fitted and plumbed to a safe, visible, frost-free termination point in compliance with the Water Regulations and Building Regulations Part G. Do not connect to a sealed (pressurised) system without appropriate pressure-limiting provisions.
Electrical work must be carried out by a Part P-registered electrician or competent person as defined under UK Building Regulations. The unit connects via a 13A fused spur (fused connection unit), or the plug can be removed for permanent hardwired connection. The supply circuit must be protected by an appropriately rated RCD.
Horizontal installation: When mounting horizontally, the hot water outlet connection must face upward. Failure to observe this will cause stratification problems and air locks, reducing performance and potentially causing noise.
Water connections are made via ΒΎ" BSP threads β standard UK plumbing. A Pentec UBIC or equivalent inlet combination valve is strongly recommended and is available separately. Flush the vessel before commissioning and set the thermostat to a minimum of 60Β°C to comply with HTM 04-01 guidance on Legionella prevention in domestic hot water systems.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much usable hot water does the 80-litre cylinder provide?
When heated to 65Β°C and blended to 37Β°C, the cylinder yields approximately 222 litres of usable hot water per heating cycle β well suited for two to three occupants with normal daily hot water use across bathroom and kitchen.
How does the Smart Key function work?
Hold the Smart Key button (top-right of the display) for three seconds to activate it. The cylinder then monitors your hot water draw times and volumes over the following seven days. From day eight onwards, it automatically sets heating schedules to pre-heat water just ahead of your normal usage times β saving energy without you needing to programme anything manually. We recommend waiting until the unit has been in normal daily use for a full week before activating it, so the algorithm has enough data to work accurately.
Can it be installed horizontally?
Yes β this model supports both vertical and horizontal wall mounting. Important: when installed horizontally, the hot water outlet must be positioned at the top of the unit. This is essential for correct water stratification and to prevent air locks that could affect performance.
Is the pressure relief valve (PRV) included?
Yes β a PRV (safety valve) is supplied as standard and must be fitted and plumbed to a safe discharge point as part of the installation. This is a legal requirement under the Water Regulations and must not be omitted or blocked.
Can it be hardwired rather than plug-in?
Yes. The 1.5 m supply cable comes with a 13A plug which can be removed to allow direct hardwired connection to a fused connection unit or consumer unit. All electrical work must be carried out by a competent person and notified under Building Regulations Part P where required.
Is it suitable for Economy 7 or off-peak electricity tariffs?
Yes. Use the WiFi app or Smart Key scheduling to programme overnight heating during off-peak hours, taking full advantage of cheaper Economy 7 or time-of-use tariff rates. The 80-litre capacity retains enough heat to supply hot water throughout the following day with minimal top-up heating required.
Can I use this with a solar PV diverter?
Yes. Pair it with a solar diverter such as the myenergi Eddi or Immersun to direct surplus solar generation into the cylinder for free hot water. The WiFi control allows you to coordinate heating schedules with your solar generation patterns for maximum self-consumption.
