Octopus Energy has built a suite of smart tariffs — Cosy Octopus, Intelligent Octopus Go, Octopus Flux, and Agile Octopus — that reward customers who can shift their energy use to off-peak periods. Rather than paying the same flat unit rate all day, smart tariff customers get cheap (sometimes even free or negative-cost) electricity overnight or during quiet grid moments, and higher export payments when they sell surplus energy back.

All Octopus smart tariffs require a smart meter. If you don't have one yet, Octopus will install it free of charge when you sign up.
Air Source Heat Pumps — Cosy Octopus
Cosy Octopus is Octopus Energy's dedicated heat-pump tariff. It delivers three cheaper-rate windows every day — up to eight hours of off-peak electricity in total — timed so your heat pump can warm the home and charge the hot water cylinder before peak-rate hours kick in. Pair it with an air source heat pump and you can slash your running costs considerably compared with a standard variable tariff.

Solar Panels & Batteries — Octopus Flux & Intelligent Flux
Octopus Flux is a combined import/export tariff designed for homes with solar panels and a battery. It gives you a lower overnight import rate to charge your battery cheaply, a mid-rate during the day, and a peak export window in the early evening when you earn the most by selling surplus energy back. Intelligent Octopus Flux goes further — it uses smart APIs to optimise battery charging and discharging automatically, and is currently compatible with GivEnergy and Enphase batteries, both of which we stock.
