The basicsWhy a magnetic filter mattersAs steel radiators and pipework corrode, they shed black iron oxide, known as magnetite or "sludge". Left unchecked, it collects in radiators, blocks pipework and clogs the boiler heat exchanger and pump, cutting efficiency and eventually causing failure.
