Why a magnetic filter matters
As steel radiators and pipework corrode, they shed black iron oxide, known as magnetite or "sludge". Left unchecked, it collects in radiators, blocks pipework and clogs the boiler heat exchanger and pump, cutting efficiency and eventually causing failure. A magnetic system filter sits in-line and captures this debris before it can do damage.

Oxygen reacts with steel inside radiators and pipes, producing magnetite that circulates with the system water.

If you run, or are planning, a heat pump, this is the filter to know. Low-temperature systems run cool enough to become a breeding ground for bacterial growth, which can clog the system and quietly erode efficiency.
