The Sunamp Optimino Keys for Heat Pumps range lets a Sunamp Thermino xPlus heat battery work with your air source heat pump. Each key is brand-specific: it is matched to a named heat pump make and series, so the xPlus is configured correctly for the unit that charges it. Choose an hp key (code 01) for heat pump charging, or an hpPV key (code 02) to add solar PV alongside the heat pump.
The xPlus is Sunamp’s small and smart alternative to an indirect hot water cylinder: up to 4x smaller, Energy Class A+, ultra low heat losses and mains-pressure hot water with recommended flow rates of 15, 20 and 25 litres per minute across the 150, 210 and 300 models. There is no mandatory annual maintenance on the appliance and the design minimises the risk of Legionella.

Every key is specific to one heat pump brand and series. Check your model against the tables below before ordering. These keys are for the Thermino xPlus only: a Thermino ePlus cannot be used with a heat pump and takes the PV02 key for solar PV instead.
01 or 02: which key?
01 = hp key: the xPlus is charged by the heat pump. 02 = hpPV key: heat pump plus solar PV. A compatible solar diverter is required with any 02 key (4-Noks Power Reducer SA, myenergi eddi, my-PV AC·THOR or Power Diverter Model 3) and is sold separately.
Electrical safety and scald protection
Wiring must be carried out by a competent person in line with BS 7671, with all supplies to the heat battery, heat pump and any solar diverter isolated first. In line with UK Building Regulations, Sunamp advises fitting a hot water tempering valve at the outlet to prevent the risk of scalding (recommended TMV setting 45–55°C).

Can I use these keys with a Thermino ePlus?
No. Heat pump keys are for the Thermino xPlus. The ePlus is a grid-electric heat battery that adds solar PV with the PV02 key.
Can I start with a boiler and switch to a heat pump later?
Yes. That is the purpose of Optimino. An xPlus can start with a boiler key (VF01, or VF02 with PV), then move to a heat pump key when the heat pump is installed, without replacing the heat battery.
Where do I find the wiring instructions?
Sunamp publishes a D0086 wiring and settings document for each heat pump brand (for example D0086-IL for Ideal, D0086-VT for Vaillant), plus the D0084 xPlus installation manual. Wiring must be done by a competent person to BS 7671 with all supplies isolated.
