Haier M7 250L Heat Pump Water Heater (HP250M7-F9 / HP250M7C-F9) — 250L tank | R290 refrigerant (GWP 3, ODP 0) | Energy Class A+ | COP 3.45 @14°C (EN16147) | Up to 65°C output | ~10h 51m full recovery @7°C | V40 313L | 1,500W auxiliary heater | Dual Power mode | hOn Wi-Fi app | Anti-Legionella | 36 dB(A) | Ambient -7°C to 45°C
The HP250M7-F9 is the standard model with no heat exchanger coil — suitable for standalone heat pump or electric-only operation. The HP250M7C-F9 includes an internal coil for connection to a solar thermal collector, central heating system or boiler back-up (usable tank volume 240L). Both share identical external dimensions, heat pump performance and operating range.
The Haier M7 250L Heat Pump Water Heater uses air-source heat pump technology to deliver domestic hot water at a fraction of the running cost of a conventional electric immersion heater. By extracting heat from the surrounding air — operating from as low as -7°C ambient — the M7 achieves a Coefficient of Performance (COP) of 3.45 at 14°C (EN16147), meaning it produces approximately 3.45 units of heat for every 1 unit of electricity consumed.
The unit runs on R290 natural refrigerant (0.15 kg charge), with a Global Warming Potential of just 3 and zero Ozone Depletion Potential. The enamel-lined tank with 50mm polyurethane insulation and a sacrificial magnesium anode rod resists corrosion and scaling for long service life. Control is via the built-in TFT display or the hOn Wi-Fi app (iOS and Android). The unit is rated IPX4 for splash-proof installation in utility rooms, garages and similar spaces.
Key Features
Recovery & Heat-Up Times
All recovery times are measured from a cold start of 10°C inlet water temperature to a set point of 55°C, as per EN16147. Actual times will vary with ambient temperature, incoming water temperature and usage patterns.
| Mode & Conditions | HP250M7-F9 (250L) | HP250M7C-F9 (240L) |
|---|---|---|
| Heat pump only — @7°C ambient | ~10h 51m | ~10h 09m |
| Heat pump only — @14°C ambient | Faster than @7°C | Faster than @7°C |
| Dual Power mode (heat pump + 1,500W element, 2,035W total) | Significantly faster — recommended for cold weather or urgent demand | |
| Continuous hot water flow rate (heat pump) | 24 L/h at set temperature | |
| V40 usable volume @7°C (40°C mixed) | 313 L | 314.4 L |
💡 Tip: For overnight off-peak tariff users (e.g. Octopus Go, Economy 7), the ~10h 51m heat pump recovery time fits comfortably within a typical overnight cheap-rate window. Schedule heating via the hOn app to run on your cheapest tariff hours and use Dual Power mode for any top-up needed during the day.

What's Included
In the Box
1 × Haier M7 250L Heat Pump Water Heater (HP250M7-F9 or HP250M7C-F9 as selected) with condensate drain pipe and installation manual. Plumbing and electrical installation by a qualified engineer is required. Solar thermal collectors, PV diverter and ancillary plumbing components are sold separately.
Frequently Asked Questions
In heat pump-only mode at 7°C ambient, the HP250M7-F9 heats from 10°C to 55°C in approximately 10 hours 51 minutes (HP250M7C-F9: 10 hours 09 minutes). Performance improves at higher ambient temperatures. Activating Dual Power mode — heat pump + 1,500W electric element simultaneously at 2,035W combined — significantly reduces recovery time. For most households, scheduling an overnight heat-up on an off-peak tariff covers daily demand with ease.
The HP250M7-F9 is the standard model with no heat exchanger coil, suitable for standalone operation. The HP250M7C-F9 includes an internal coil enabling connection to a solar thermal collector, central heating system or boiler backup — usable tank volume is 240L due to the coil. External dimensions and heat pump performance are identical on both.
Yes. The M7 operates down to -7°C ambient, including cold garages and unheated utility rooms. The COP at 7°C is 3.21 (EN16147). In extreme cold, Dual Power mode activates automatically to maintain supply. The V40 usable volume of 313L at 7°C ensures a generous buffer even during prolonged cold spells.
Yes — the M7 is designed for indoor installation in a well-ventilated space such as a garage, utility room, plant room or loft. It can also be ducted via the 160mm air connection to draw air from an adjacent room or from outside. It must not be installed in a sealed, unventilated room as this would progressively reduce efficiency.
Yes. The M7 has an external signal input for PV-triggered operation. When paired with a compatible solar diverter or export controller, the unit automatically switches to heating mode when excess solar generation is available. The HP250M7C-F9 can also connect directly to solar thermal collectors via its internal coil.
🔧 Installation Notes
