Rather than measuring temperature at the radiator itself, the ETRV works in a system with the ENGO E25 room thermostat, which measures true air temperature in the room from its wall-mounted position. The E25 thermostat sends commands to the ETRV heads to modulate the valve opening, achieving the setpoint temperature with a precision that a traditional manual TRV cannot match.

The ETRV-M30+RA does NOT operate as a standalone device. It must be paired with an ENGO E25 room thermostat (sold separately) to function. One E25 can control up to 6 ETRV heads within the same room. The E25 may be wall-mounted (230V) or battery-powered, and can be used standalone (offline) or connected to the EGATE-PRO gateway for full app and voice control.
The head ships with both an M30×1.5 direct-fit adaptor and a Danfoss RA adaptor, making it suitable for the two most common UK TRV valve configurations without any additional accessories. Installation is straightforward: remove the old manual TRV head, screw on the ETRV, insert batteries, and follow the E25 pairing procedure. The ETRV then automatically calibrates to the valve insert pin height.

The ETRV head's thermistor continuously monitors the local temperature at the radiator. If a sudden drop of 1.5°C is detected — typically caused by a window being opened — the head automatically closes the valve to avoid wasteful heating. After 15 minutes, the system assumes the window is closed and returns to normal temperature control. No manual reset required.

Installation Notes
- Before fitting, check the valve type — use the M30 direct fit for standard M30×1.5 valves; use the included Danfoss RA adapter for RA-type valve inserts
- Measure the pin height of the existing valve insert — it should be between 10–15 mm in the open position for correct operation
- Remove the old manual TRV head, screw on the ETRV by hand — no tools needed
- Insert 2×AA batteries and reattach the cover — the LED will indicate the software version on startup
- Wait for the auto-calibration to complete (LED turns steady green) before pairing with E25
- Pair the ETRV with the E25 thermostat following the E25 pairing procedure (internet gateway not required for pairing)
- For app control, add the EGATE-PRO gateway to the ENGO Smart system and link the E25 to it
- Note: ETRV heads cannot be operated via a wiring centre or relay module directly — they must be controlled by an E25 thermostat

Yes — the Danfoss RA adapter is included in the ETRV-M30+RA pack. Screw the adapter onto the valve insert, then attach the ETRV head to the adapter using the M30 thread.
Can I fit this myself?

No — the ETRV + E25 combination works offline, maintaining the E25's programmed schedule and setpoints without the internet or a gateway. The EGATE-PRO is only needed if you want to control the system via the ENGO Smart app, or use voice commands via Alexa/Google Assistant.
What if I have more than one radiator in a room?
Use one ETRV head per radiator and pair all heads (up to 6) with a single E25 thermostat. The E25 measures the room air temperature and coordinates all heads in the room simultaneously.
What batteries does this use?
2×AA 1.5V alkaline batteries (not included). Rechargeable batteries are not recommended as the lower voltage can cause unreliable operation.
