The EcoFlow OCEAN 2 LFP Battery 8kWh (EF BD-8-S2) is a high-voltage lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) storage module for the EcoFlow OCEAN 2 solar and hybrid inverter system. It delivers 8.03 kWh nominal capacity (7.76 kWh usable) with a 4.1 kW nominal charge and discharge rate and a maximum short-term discharge of 6.4 kW, giving a single module the punch to support large household loads.
Each module is only 196 mm deep and stands 378 mm high, so the stack fits tight plant rooms, garages and outside walls. Build a floor-standing stack of up to 6 batteries or a wall-mounted stack of up to 3, and add capacity later without replacing what you already have. The IP66-rated enclosure, -20 to 55 °C operating range and intelligent air cooling make it suitable for demanding UK installations, backed by up to 10,000 battery cell cycles.

Safety and regulatory
This is a high-voltage DC battery system (360-520 V / 720-960 V operating range). It must be installed, wired and commissioned by a suitably qualified electrician in accordance with BS 7671 and the manufacturer's installation manual. Complete the system's G98 / G99 grid connection notification or application as required, and do not open the battery enclosure.
Compatibility
The battery is not a standalone unit. It must be paired with an EcoFlow OCEAN 2 hybrid inverter, and depending on the inverter design a battery junction box may be required, so check the installation manual for your system. OCEAN 2 supports mixed use of Gen 1 and Gen 2 battery packs within the same system, including the 5 kWh module.
Peak discharge limits
The 6.4 kW maximum discharge is a short-term figure: in laboratory conditions at 25 °C ambient and device temperature, the discharge time at this power is no more than 30 minutes. Power may be derated above 40 °C and above 2,000 m altitude.
Warranty
EcoFlow provides a 10-year compulsory warranty on the OCEAN 2 LFP Battery 8kWh, with an optional 5-year extension available.

Frequently asked questions
Can the OCEAN 2 8kWh battery be used on its own?
No. It is a high-voltage battery module that must be connected to an EcoFlow OCEAN 2 hybrid inverter. Depending on the inverter design, a battery junction box may also be required, so confirm the exact configuration in the installation manual before ordering.
How many batteries can I stack?
A floor-standing stack can hold up to 6 batteries and a wall-mounted stack up to 3. OCEAN 2 supports mixing Gen 1 and Gen 2 packs, so you can combine the 8kWh and 5kWh modules in the same system.
What is the difference between nominal and usable capacity?
Nominal capacity is 8.03 kWh. Usable capacity is 7.76 kWh, measured at 100% depth of discharge and 0.2C charge and discharge at 25 °C at the beginning of life.
Can it be installed outdoors?
Yes. The enclosure is IP66-rated and the operating range is -20 to 55 °C. Power may be derated above 40 °C and above 2,000 m, and the maximum operating altitude is 3,000 m. Always follow the manufacturer's siting and clearance guidance.
What does the 6.4 kW maximum discharge mean in practice?
It is a short-term peak. Nominal charge and discharge are 4.1 kW, while the module can deliver up to 6.4 kW for no more than 30 minutes under laboratory conditions at 25 °C. Total system output also depends on the connected inverter and the number of batteries.
What warranty does it carry?
The 8kWh battery comes with a 10-year compulsory warranty and an optional 5-year extension. Warranty terms are set by the manufacturer, so refer to the official policy for conditions.
