Substrate Compatibility
Bonds virtually every substrate — all metals (including lead), glass, mirrors, all woods, MDF, polystyrene, fibreglass, tiles, concrete, most stones (without staining) and most synthetic materials. It does not bond to polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE) or PTFE. For mirror bonding, apply in vertical strips (not suitable for PP-backed mirrors).

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between CT1 Grey and CT1 Anthracite?
Both cure to a matt, non-porous finish, but the shade is very different. CT1 Grey (535306) is a mid, neutral light-grey typical of concrete and mortar joints. CT1 Anthracite (535307) is a much darker charcoal-grey, matching modern anthracite window and door frames (e.g. RAL 7016 — note this is a close visual match, not an exact RAL specification).
Can CT1 be used on lead flashings and roof-work?
Yes — CT1 bonds to all metals, including lead, and is regularly used to lap-seal lead flashings, gutter joints, roof valleys and slate/tile repairs. It is UV-resistant, cures under water and remains flexible under thermal cycling, so it copes well with a working roof.
Is the darker colour the same TRIBRID® formulation as the standard CT1?
Yes. The Grey, Anthracite and Black variants share the same TRIBRID® base chemistry, tensile strength (2.90 N/mm²) and elongation (385%) as the rest of the coloured range (excluding Silver, which is a slightly different modulus). The pigment package changes; the mechanical performance does not.
Will CT1 stain natural stone or masonry?
CT1 is formulated to not bleed through or stain most natural stones, unlike many silicone-based sealants. For sensitive porous stones (marble, limestone, some sandstones) or on show-face architectural work, C-Tec recommends a small patch test in an inconspicuous area first.
How is CT1 supplied and what is the shelf life?
CT1 is supplied in a 290 ml recyclable cartridge for use in any standard mastic gun. Unopened cartridges have an 18-month shelf life from the date of manufacture when kept in cool, dry conditions. The cartridge itself is manufactured with 80% post-consumer recycled plastic.
What are the certifications and is it safe for indoor use?
CT1 is EC1 Plus certified — Indoor Air Comfort GOLD® (very low VOC), ISEGA certified for food-preparation contact, tested to ETAG 022 for building-envelope use, and approved by NAAF, the Norwegian Asthma and Allergy Association. It contains no solvents and no isocyanates and is completely odourless in use.
