The Harmoni 25m Pre-Made Frost Protection Trace Heating Kit is a complete, self-regulating trace heating system designed to stop exposed or vulnerable pipework from freezing throughout the winter months. Supplied pre-terminated with a built-in thermostat and 2m cold lead, the kit is ready to install straight out of the box — ideal for protecting long pipe runs in lofts, outbuildings, plant rooms and exposed external pipework.
At the heart of the system is a 12W/m self-regulating heating cable that uses a variable resistive compound to automatically adjust its output to the surrounding temperature. This means the cable delivers more heat where pipework is coldest and less where it isn't, eliminating the risk of overheating even where cable runs cross or overlap.

Fuse Rating — Please Check Before Installing
The manufacturer's installation manual specifies a minimum fuse rating of 10A (Type C) for this product line. Always confirm the correct protective device rating against the installation manual supplied with the kit before connecting to the supply.
Self-Regulating Cable

Installation Requirements
The manufacturer recommends this kit is installed by a qualified electrician and fitted in accordance with current local and international wiring regulations. The presence of trace heating cable must be indicated by on-site warning notices (for example, at the fuse box) and recorded in the property's electrical documentation. Pipe temperature must never exceed 60°C during normal operation, and the cable's minimum bend radius of 25mm must not be exceeded.
Once fitted, the cable must be covered with a minimum of 20mm of pipe lagging (Armaflex, PU foam or mineral wool) to retain heat efficiently. On plastic pipes and plastic components, the cable should first be wrapped in aluminium adhesive tape to protect the surface and improve heat transfer.

How much pipe will the 25m kit protect?
The 25m cable can be run along a single 25m length of pipe, or split across multiple shorter runs (single, double or triple pass) provided the total cable used does not exceed 25m. Coverage also depends on pipe diameter and insulation thickness — see the spec tables above.
Do I need an electrician to install this kit?
The kit is designed for straightforward DIY installation since it arrives pre-terminated with no wiring to complete. However, the manufacturer recommends installation by a qualified electrician and requires the work to comply with current local and international wiring regulations.
Does the thermostat need to be set manually?
No. The built-in thermostat automatically activates the cable only when protection is required and remains dormant during warmer weather, so there is nothing to programme or monitor.
Can this be used on plastic pipework?
Yes, but the manufacturer requires the cable to be wrapped in aluminium adhesive tape first when fitted to plastic pipes or plastic components, to protect the pipe surface and aid heat transfer.
What pipe insulation should I use alongside the cable?
