The SolaX Pocket WiFi+LAN V2.0 is a dual-connection monitoring dongle for the SolaX inverter range, combining 2.4 GHz WiFi and wired Ethernet (10/100M) in a single compact, plug-in unit. It plugs directly into the DONGLE port at the base of compatible SolaX inverters and is powered entirely from the inverter — no external power supply is required.
The V2.0 introduces a Bluetooth-assisted setup process for a faster initial connection, physical buttons for reboot, reset and AP mode activation without needing to power-cycle the inverter, and a smaller, more compact housing than earlier Pocket dongles. Once registered on SolaXCloud, it provides 10-second live data refresh for PV generation, battery state of charge, grid import/export and household consumption, together with up to 30 days of uninterrupted local data storage if the network connection is lost.

Check Compatibility Before Ordering:One dongle is required per SolaX inverter. Always confirm your specific inverter's generation and firmware version against the current SolaX compatibility list before ordering, since supported models vary by dongle hardware revision and inverter firmware. Contact your installer or SolaX support if you are unsure which Pocket dongle generation your inverter requires.
V2.0 vs V3.0 — Not the Same Hardware:The Pocket WiFi+LAN V2.0 is a distinct hardware revision from the newer V3.0 generation: it uses a smaller housing (134 × 44 × 26.5 mm vs 112 × 45.7 × 28.5 mm), has a narrower operating temperature range (−30°C to +60°C vs −35°C to +60°C), and adds Bluetooth setup, physical control buttons and self-diagnosis not present on earlier revisions.
Dual Connectivity — WiFi and Wired Ethernet
The Pocket WiFi+LAN V2.0 supports both 2.4 GHz WiFi (802.11 b/g/n) and wired Ethernet (10/100 Mbps) from a single device. WiFi suits straightforward installations where the inverter and router are in the same building; the wired Ethernet connection gives a more stable, interference-free link for garages, outbuildings, lofts or any location where thick walls or competing 2.4 GHz traffic compromise wireless reliability.

Bluetooth-Assisted Seamless Setup
The V2.0 introduces Bluetooth connectivity to simplify the initial pairing process between the dongle and the SolaXCloud app, reducing the steps needed to get the unit on the home network compared with earlier WiFi-hotspot-only setup methods.

10-Second Live Data with 30-Day Offline Storage
The standard data upload interval is 5 minutes, selectable to a 10-second live refresh when actively viewed in the SolaXCloud app or browser. If the internet connection is lost, the dongle can maintain data transmission for up to 30 days without a network connection, buffering locally and uploading the backlog automatically once connectivity is restored — keeping the generation history continuous rather than showing gaps.

Physical Reboot, Reset and AP Mode Buttons
Unlike dongles that require a full inverter power-cycle to reset the network connection, the V2.0 has dedicated physical buttons for reboot, factory reset and AP (access point) mode activation, making on-site troubleshooting and re-pairing considerably quicker for installers.

Self-Diagnosis for Easier Troubleshooting
Built-in self-diagnosis capability helps identify connection or hardware issues without needing to fully reconfigure the unit, reducing the time spent troubleshooting intermittent monitoring faults on site.

Compact, Space-Saving Design
The V2.0 housing measures 134 × 44 × 26.5 mm and weighs 80 ± 10 g, giving a smaller, more elegant and coordinated look at the inverter's DONGLE port compared with older Pocket dongle designs, while retaining full IP65 dust and water-jet protection.

What is different about the V2.0 compared with newer Pocket WiFi+LAN dongles?
The V2.0 uses a different housing size and adds Bluetooth-assisted setup, physical reboot/reset/AP mode buttons and built-in self-diagnosis — features aimed at faster installer setup and on-site troubleshooting. It has a slightly narrower operating temperature range than the later V3.0 generation, and the manufacturer datasheet for this revision does not list Modbus TCP or IEEE 2030.5 support.
Why use Ethernet instead of WiFi?
Inverters are often installed in locations poorly served by the home router — garages, loft spaces, utility rooms behind thick masonry walls. 2.4 GHz WiFi loses signal through walls and is susceptible to interference from neighbouring networks and other 2.4 GHz devices. A wired Ethernet connection is unaffected by walls, distance within the cable run, or RF interference, and is the recommended choice if the WiFi connection proves unstable.
What happens to my monitoring data when the internet goes down?
The Pocket WiFi+LAN V2.0 can maintain data transmission for up to 30 days without a network connection, buffering monitoring data locally. Once connectivity is restored, the buffered data uploads automatically, keeping the generation history continuous rather than showing false zero-generation gaps during the outage.
How does the Bluetooth setup work?
Bluetooth is used during the initial pairing process between the dongle and the SolaXCloud app on your smartphone, simplifying the steps needed to bring the dongle onto your home WiFi network compared with the WiFi-hotspot-only pairing method used on some earlier dongles.
Is there a subscription fee for SolaXCloud monitoring?
No. SolaXCloud monitoring is free of charge for both homeowners and installers, with no monthly or annual subscription for standard monitoring and reporting features. Remote monitoring, historical data, performance reports, remote settings changes and OTA firmware updates are all included at no cost.
Which SolaX inverters is this dongle compatible with?
Compatibility depends on your inverter's generation and firmware version, and this can vary between hardware revisions of the Pocket WiFi+LAN dongle. Always check the current SolaX compatibility list, or confirm with your installer or SolaX support, using your inverter's exact model and serial number before ordering.
