⬛ Black 7.4kW Smart Charger 5m Tethered Type 2 MPN: PLP2-0-2-2-F-002
The Wallbox Pulsar Max (Black) is one of the world's most compact and feature-rich smart home EV chargers, delivering up to 7.4kW of single-phase AC charging power through a permanently attached 5-metre Type 2 tethered cable — ready to charge any modern electric vehicle or plug-in hybrid the moment you pull up. Upgraded from the original Pulsar Plus with a reinforced IK10 impact-rated enclosure, integrated DC leakage protection (no external RCD adapter required), built-in UK O-PEN protection, and full myWallbox app connectivity via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, the Pulsar Max is designed to be the last home charger you'll ever need. Solar-ready, schedule-capable, and compliant with the UK Smart Charge Points Regulations 2021, it covers every requirement for a modern, intelligent home charging installation.
Why Choose the Wallbox Pulsar Max?
At 7.4kW on a single-phase supply, the Pulsar Max charges at the maximum speed available from a standard UK domestic connection. A typical EV with a 60kWh battery will recover roughly 30–35 miles of range per hour of charging — meaning most drivers add a full night's range (100+ miles) in 6–8 hours of overnight charging. Compared to a 3-pin plug (2.3kW, slow and legally not recommended as a permanent solution), the Pulsar Max charges approximately three times faster while doing so safely through a purpose-designed weatherproof unit with built-in safety protections.
What sets the Pulsar Max apart from basic home chargers is its intelligence. The myWallbox app allows you to schedule charging to off-peak tariff periods (Octopus Go, Intelligent Octopus, Economy 7), track energy use and cost per session, set maximum current to manage household load, and — with the optional N1 CT clamp — divert surplus solar generation into your car instead of exporting it to the grid. The charger operates as a standalone unit with no internet connection required, but its full potential is unlocked through the app.

🇬🇧 UK Smart Charge Points Regulations 2021 — Compliant
The Wallbox Pulsar Max (software version 5.8.25 or above) is fully compliant with the UK Electrical Vehicles (Smart Charge Points) Regulations 2021. This means it meets the government's mandatory requirements for new home EV charger installations in England, Scotland, and Wales — including randomised delay on charging start, off-peak default charging, and demand-side response capability. All Pulsar Max units are supplied with firmware meeting this requirement.

Installation Requirements
The Wallbox Pulsar Max must be installed by an 18th Edition qualified electrician — this is a legal requirement under UK electrical regulations, and is also a condition of the product warranty. Installation should also meet the requirements of BS 7671:2018 and any local Distribution Network Operator (DNO) requirements for EV charger installations. Key installation notes:
- Earthing: The Pulsar Max includes integrated UK O-PEN protection and 6mA DC RDC-DD — no external PEN fault device or Type B RCD adapter is required for most standard UK domestic PME/TN-C-S installations
- Dedicated circuit: A dedicated 32A radial circuit from the consumer unit is required — this should not be shared with other high-load appliances
- Cable: 6mm² (typical) twin and earth or armoured cable rated to carry 32A continuously; exact cable sizing depends on cable run length and installation method
- MCB: A 32A Type B or Type C MCB in the consumer unit protects the charger circuit
- Location: IP55-rated for outdoor installation; can be wall-mounted in a garage, car port, or on an external wall
- DNO notification: For chargers above 3.68kW on a single-phase supply, the DNO should be notified under G99/G100 (Engineering Recommendation). Your installer will manage this
💡 Solar Charging — How to Activate
To enable solar charging, order the Wallbox N1 CT clamp alongside the Pulsar Max. The CT clamp clamps around the household grid import cable and sends real-time consumption data to the Pulsar Max. The charger then adjusts its charge rate in real time — increasing when solar generation is high and the household is exporting surplus energy, and reducing when the household is drawing heavily from the grid. This maximises use of your own solar-generated electricity and minimises grid import during charging.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this model need a separate PEN fault protection device?
No. The PLP2-0-2-2-F-002 includes integrated UK O-PEN protection — this is built into the unit and covers the PEN fault protection requirement for PME/TN-C-S earthed installations (the most common earthing arrangement in UK homes). A separate external PEN fault device is not required. Your installer should always confirm the earthing arrangement and verify suitability before installation.
Do I need a Type B RCD?
No. The Pulsar Max includes 6mA DC leakage detection (RDC-DD) compliant with IEC 62955. This satisfies the requirement for DC fault protection that would otherwise require a Type B RCD (or a Type A RCD with a DC fault adapter). A standard 30mA Type A RCD or RCBO on the supply circuit is still required to protect against AC earth faults — your installer will incorporate this in the consumer unit or distribution board.
Can I charge a Tesla with this charger?
Yes. Tesla vehicles sold in the UK and Europe use a Type 2 inlet as standard for AC home charging, and are fully compatible with the Pulsar Max's Type 2 tethered cable. Tesla Model 3, Model Y, Model S, and Model X all support up to 11kW AC charging, meaning the Pulsar Max's full 7.4kW output will be accepted and used efficiently.
Is the Pulsar Max eligible for government grants?
The OZEV homeowner grant ended for single-unit homeowners in March 2022. However, the EV Chargepoint Grant (up to £350) remains available for renters and flat/apartment owners in England, Scotland, and Wales. The Pulsar Max is an approved product for this scheme. Scottish residents may also be eligible for funding via the Energy Saving Trust. Your electrician can advise on current eligibility and will handle the application process as part of an approved installation.
What is the difference between this model (black) and PLP2-0-2-2-F-001 (white)?
The two models are identical in every technical specification — same power output, cable length, connector type, safety features, smart functions, and app compatibility. The only difference is the colour of the enclosure: PLP2-0-2-2-F-002 is Black; PLP2-0-2-2-F-001 is White. Choose based on your installation location's aesthetic preference.
My EV only accepts 7.2kW — will I lose any speed?
No meaningful difference. The Pulsar Max outputs up to 7.4kW; if your vehicle's on-board charger is rated to 7.2kW or 7.4kW, it will charge at close to the maximum rate. Some vehicles (e.g. Renault Zoe, earlier Nissan Leaf) have lower on-board charger limits — in those cases the vehicle itself limits the charge rate regardless of the charger's capability, and the Pulsar Max adapts automatically.
