600mm Tileable Invisible Drain Finish 597 × 40mm Cover 8–25mm Tile Thickness For 600mm Linear Drain
The Taurus Linear Tileable Drain Cover 600mm is a tile-in drain cover plate designed to make the linear drain channel in a wet room floor virtually invisible once installed. Rather than a visible metal grille, this cover holds a cut-to-fit tile in a 10mm-deep channel — so the same tile used on the wet room floor can be continued directly over the drain, creating a seamless, uninterrupted floor finish. It fits the 600mm linear drain cut-out in Taurus wet room tray formers and is designed for tile and adhesive combinations between 8mm and 25mm in total thickness, making it suitable for standard ceramic and porcelain tiles up to approximately 15mm thick with a normal adhesive bed. The cover plate is 597mm long × 40mm wide overall, with a 37mm-wide internal channel that accepts the tile infill.
What Is a Tileable Drain Cover?
A standard linear drain cover plate is a visible metal strip — typically brushed stainless steel or a decorative finish — that sits over the drain channel and is seen as a design feature in its own right. A tileable drain cover takes a different approach: it provides a frame with a recessed channel into which a cut piece of the floor tile is set. When grouted in place, the tile continues seamlessly from the wet room floor into the drain channel, making the drain almost impossible to detect visually unless you are looking directly for it.
This finish is increasingly favoured in high-specification wet room installations where the goal is a completely uninterrupted tiled floor — particularly where large-format tiles are used and a visible metal grille would interrupt the tile pattern. The tileable cover also means the drain finish automatically matches the floor tile, regardless of the tile colour, format, or texture chosen. There is no need to coordinate a metal finish with the rest of the bathroom fixtures.

Tile Thickness Guide
The 10mm-deep tile channel accepts a combined tile and adhesive bed of 8–25mm. To use this cover successfully, the tile and adhesive layer on your wet room floor must fall within this range. Use the guide below to check compatibility:
📐 Tile + Adhesive Compatibility
Minimum 8mm total: A tile of 6mm with a 2mm adhesive skim would be borderline — a standard flexible adhesive bed is typically 3–6mm, so most tile formats will meet the minimum without difficulty.
Maximum 25mm total: A 20mm thick porcelain slab with a 5mm adhesive bed would be at the upper limit. Heavy stone tiles (e.g. 15mm slate or travertine) with a 6–8mm adhesive bed typically fall within range.
Most common ceramic and porcelain tiles (7–12mm thick) with a 4–6mm adhesive bed give a total of 11–18mm — well within the 8–25mm window.
Important: The tile channel depth is fixed at 10mm. This means the tile thickness alone must not exceed 10mm if using a minimal adhesive bed, but in practice the tile sits in the channel on adhesive — the channel depth determines the maximum tile height above the cover plate frame, not an absolute tile thickness limit. Confirm your tile format with the supplier if using tiles thicker than 15mm.
⚠️ Important — Tile Width for the Infill
The internal channel width is 37mm. The tile infill must be cut to approximately 34–36mm wide to sit within the channel with a normal grout joint on each side. This is narrower than most standard tile cut-offs and will require a precise cut on a tile saw. For small mosaic tiles or tiles with heavy surface texture, cutting cleanly to this width may be challenging — check with your tiler before specifying this cover option.
Installation Notes
The tileable cover plate is installed as part of the tray former drainage assembly, after the waste trap is set and before the tray is tiled. The cover plate frame is fitted into the linear drain cut-out and secured in position. The tile infill strip is cut on a tile saw to approximately 34–36mm wide × 590mm long from the same tile batch used on the wet room floor, then set in flexible tile adhesive in the channel. It is essential that the tile infill strip is set at the same height as the surrounding floor tiles so the finished surface is flush — the trap height setting during tray bedding must account for this.
The cover plate can be removed after installation for access to the waste trap below for cleaning and maintenance. The tile infill is not permanently bonded — it is set in adhesive in the channel but can be carefully lifted for access if required, though in practice the trap is usually accessed by removing the entire cover plate assembly from above.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the tile for the drain channel included with this cover plate?
No — the tile infill is not supplied. It is cut on site from the same tile batch used on the wet room floor, which is what gives the seamless, matched appearance. Your tiler will cut a strip approximately 34–36mm wide and 590mm long from a full tile. It is worth ordering one or two extra tiles to account for the drain infill cut.
My tiles are 600×300mm format — will these work for the infill cut?
Yes — a 600×300mm tile is an ideal format for this cover. The infill strip runs along the 600mm length of the tile, and the 34–36mm cut is taken across the 300mm dimension, leaving a usable offcut of approximately 264mm. A standard wet saw cuts this precisely and cleanly in a single pass. Large-format tiles (600×600mm, 1200×600mm etc.) work equally well and produce less waste.
Will this cover plate fit a 300mm linear drain?
No — this is the 600mm cover plate (597mm long) and is only compatible with the 600mm linear drain cut-out in Taurus tray formers. For a 300mm linear drain, the correct Taurus cover plate is 297mm long. Check your tray former variant and drain size before ordering.
How do I access the waste trap for cleaning after the tile is set?
The cover plate assembly is designed to be removable for maintenance. The tile infill piece sits in the channel on adhesive and can be carefully lifted using a grout saw and a thin tool to break the grout joint and release the tile. The cover plate frame can then be removed to expose the drain channel and waste trap for cleaning or inspection. It is good practice to use a non-permanent flexible adhesive for the tile infill (rather than rapid-set or epoxy adhesive) to keep future removal straightforward.
What is the difference between this tileable cover and the tileable cover sold with the tray former kit?
Some Taurus tray former kits include a standard stainless steel drain cover plate as standard; the tileable cover is an upgrade option sold separately for customers who prefer the invisible drain finish. If your installation kit came with a stainless steel cover plate but you would prefer the tileable finish, this cover plate (TS549006) is the correct replacement/upgrade item for a 600mm linear drain.
Can I use this cover with any tiles — including natural stone or mosaic?
Natural stone tiles (slate, travertine, marble, etc.) work well provided the combined tile and adhesive thickness is within the 8–25mm range. Stone tiles are often 10–15mm thick and sit comfortably within this range. Mosaic tiles are not recommended for the drain infill — the narrow 37mm channel width means there is typically only one or two mosaic pieces across the width, which creates an uneven, fragmented visual effect. For mosaic wet rooms, the standard stainless steel cover plate usually gives a cleaner, more professional result.
