The Samsung EHS Mono Gen6 is a fully-contained monoblock air-to-water heat pump in which the entire refrigerant circuit — inverter-driven BLDC twin-rotary compressor, heat exchanger, and electronic expansion valve — is sealed within the outdoor unit. Only insulated water pipes run indoors, removing any requirement for F-Gas work on the indoor side and simplifying installation compliance. The AE050RXYDEG/EU delivers a rated heating capacity of 5 kW at standard A7/W35 test conditions, with a Seasonal COP (SCOP) of 4.46 at LWT 35°C — ErP class A+++ — and SCOP 3.20 at LWT 55°C (A++) per EN 14825. These ratings qualify the unit for the UK Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) when installed by an MCS-registered contractor. Operating reliably down to −25°C ambient, the unit delivers flow temperatures up to 65°C, making it compatible with both underfloor heating and legacy radiator systems. R32 refrigerant (GWP 675, ODP 0) reduces CO₂-equivalent emissions by 73% versus equivalent R410A systems.

⚠ Installer & Safety Critical
- F-Gas regulations apply. R32 is a fluorinated greenhouse gas (GWP 675). All installation, commissioning, and decommissioning must be performed by an F-Gas certified engineer. Refrigerant site records must be maintained.
- No integral pressure relief valve. The outdoor unit does not contain a PRV. A compliant pressure relief valve must be installed in the hydraulic circuit per BS EN 12828 and Building Regulations Part G.
- MCS registration required for BUS grant. The installation must be carried out and registered by an MCS-certified installer before the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant is submitted.
- Minimum system water volume: confirm from Samsung installation documentation for this specific model. A buffer vessel must be fitted if the hydraulic circuit volume (including pipework and cylinder coil) does not meet the minimum.
⚠ Compatibility & Advisory
- Control module not included. The outdoor unit requires the Samsung MIM-E03CN control module (includes Touch Controller MWR-WW10N) to operate. Order separately or as part of a ClimateHub package.
- Wi-Fi not embedded. SmartThings App connectivity requires the optional MIM-H04N Wi-Fi Kit (sold separately).
- Dedicated electrical circuit required: 16 A MCB. This unit draws MCA 16.0 A / MFA 20.0 A. Confirm available supply capacity and cable sizing to MCA before specifying.
- Filter/strainer mandatory on the return water pipe to protect the heat exchanger from system debris. Clean regularly to maintain the minimum water flow rate.
- Primary pipework: minimum 28 mm copper or 32 mm multilayer. All outdoor pipework must be fully insulated and weatherproofed.
ⓘ Product Highlights
- MCS Listed — qualifies for the UK Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) £7,500 grant when installed by an MCS-certified contractor.
- Compatible with the Samsung ClimateHub tank-integrated hydro unit (200 L or 260 L) or third-party cylinders and control kits from various manufacturers.
- 2-Zone Control supported — independently control a radiator zone and an underfloor heating zone from a single outdoor unit.
- PV-Enabled & Smart Grid Ready — shifts electrical demand to periods of solar generation surplus or off-peak tariffs to minimise running costs.
Key Features
True Monoblock Architecture
The EHS Mono houses the complete refrigerant circuit outdoors. No refrigerant pipework penetrates the building — only insulated water pipes connect the outdoor unit to the indoor hydraulic system. This eliminates F-Gas work on the indoor side, broadens compatibility with third-party cylinders and control kits, and simplifies compliance with Building Regulations Part F.
SCOP 4.46 — ErP A+++ at LWT 35°C
Tested across a full seasonal load profile per EN 14825, this unit achieves SCOP 4.46 at a 35°C leaving water temperature — the ideal point for underfloor heating systems. At 55°C (legacy radiator retrofits) the SCOP is 3.20 (A++), still substantially better than a condensing gas boiler. The inverter-driven compressor modulates continuously to match heat demand, eliminating on/off cycling losses.
Compact Footprint — Ideal for High-Efficiency Properties
At just 880 × 798 × 310 mm and 58.5 kg, the 5 kW is the most compact unit in the Samsung EHS Gen6 range — significantly smaller than the 8 kW and above. Its single-fan design and reduced refrigerant charge (1.00 kg) make it well matched to highly insulated new-build, Passivhaus-standard, or well-retrofitted properties typically up to 80–100 m², where a larger unit would oversupply heat and cycle inefficiently.
−25°C Cold-Climate Performance
The unit maintains rated output at low temperatures, achieving 5.1 kW at −7°C ambient (A−7/W35 peak condition) and continuing to operate down to −25°C ambient. Domestic hot water production remains available down to −25°C. Even at A2/W35 (2°C ambient) the unit delivers 4.8 kW, covering the full range of UK winter conditions reliably.
Up to 65°C Flow Temperature
A maximum leaving water temperature of 65°C means this unit can serve existing radiator systems without mandatory system re-sizing, provided heat-loss calculations confirm adequate emitter output at the specified flow temperature. The highest efficiency is realised at lower flow temperatures (35–45°C for underfloor heating), so partial or phased radiator upgrades are a common and cost-effective approach.
Anti-Salt Coating & Weather-Resistant Casing
The heat exchanger features an Anti-Salt coating on fins and tubes (Corrugate Wide Louver geometry, Φ7 mm, 2-row) for enhanced corrosion resistance in coastal or industrially polluted environments. The powder-coated electro-galvanised steel casing in Earth Brown provides robust weathering protection. A single axial-flow fan (1 × 98 W) delivers 51 m³/min airflow at 760 rpm with a low sound pressure of just 45 dB(A).
Smart Connectivity & Energy Management
Via the optional MIM-H04N Wi-Fi Kit, the unit integrates with Samsung SmartThings for remote on/off, scheduling, and energy monitoring from iOS or Android. The included Touch Controller MWR-WW10N supports 2-Zone temperature scheduling, error monitoring, and summer-mode cooling. Smart Grid Ready and PV-Enabled logic allow demand shifting toward off-peak tariffs or surplus solar generation.
