The Hive TRV003 Smart Thermostatic Radiator Valve Head 5-Pack lets you extend room-by-room smart heating control across up to five radiators in one purchase. Each TRV003 head screws onto an existing 15 mm TRV valve body — no draining, no pipe work — and communicates with the Hive Hub over Zigbee to give you independent temperature scheduling, remote control and voice commands for every room the pack covers.
Once paired via the Hive app, each valve measures room temperature via its built-in electronic sensor and opens or closes the valve motor to hit the target setpoint — a 0–40 °C range in 0.5 °C steps. Open Window Detection automatically reduces heating when a rapid temperature drop suggests a window has been opened. Combined with the Heat On Demand feature (requires Hive Active Heating thermostat), a TRV can trigger the boiler itself when a room needs heat — not just redistribute the heat that's already being made. The 5-pack includes 10 × AA batteries and adaptors for both M30 and Danfoss RA valve bodies.

Hive Hub required. The TRV003 is a Zigbee device and requires a compatible Hive Hub (current version or Hub 360) to connect to the Hive app and enable remote control, scheduling and voice-assistant features. The original first-generation Hive Hub 1 does not support the TRV003.
Existing TRV valve bodies required. These are heads only — they replace the existing TRV head on your radiator. Your radiators must already have thermostatic radiator valve bodies fitted (the body is the part that stays on the pipe; the head is the knob that screws on top). If your radiators have manual valves or no TRV bodies, a Gas Safe / plumbing engineer must fit compatible bodies first.
Calibration note. Each valve takes up to 24 hours to calibrate after first installation — it learns the exact open/close point of its valve body. Heating must be on during calibration. Radiators may heat slightly unevenly until calibration is complete.

Open Window Detection
Monitors the rate at which room temperature drops. If it falls rapidly (indicating an open window), the TRV003 automatically reduces the setpoint to avoid heating the outside — then restores the previous programme when the temperature stabilises.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do my radiators already have TRV bodies?
Look at the valve on the side of your radiator (not the lockshield valve on the opposite side). If it has a numbered dial (1–5 or 1–6), it is a thermostatic radiator valve body and the TRV003 head will fit. If it has a plain handwheel or no markings, it is likely a manual valve and a plumber must fit a compatible TRV body first.
Can I use TRV003 valves without a Hive heating thermostat?
Yes — the TRV003 works with any heating system that has plumbed radiators with TRV bodies, whether or not you have a Hive thermostat. However, without a Hive thermostat, a TRV can only control the flow of hot water to that radiator while the boiler is already running. To enable Heat On Demand (where a TRV can call the boiler on), you need a Hive Active Heating thermostat.
Will the TRV003 affect my existing Hive thermostat?
If the TRV003 is in the same room as your main Hive thermostat, both will try to control temperature independently and may conflict. Hive recommends not fitting a TRV003 on any radiator in the same room as the main thermostat. Set the TRV in that room to maximum and let the thermostat control it.
How long does calibration take?
Up to 24 hours with the heating on. During calibration the valve learns the exact open/close position of its body — it may over- or under-heat slightly until complete. Once calibrated it remembers the settings and doesn't need to repeat the process.
