The Hive Hubless Mini V4 Wireless Heating Smart Thermostat (MPN 852111) is Hive's compact, hub-free combi boiler thermostat. It connects directly to your home router over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi via the receiver — no Nano 3 Hub or Ethernet cable needed — and gives full app and voice control for a single heating zone from day one. Smaller than the full-size Hive V4 at just 84 × 83 × 22 mm, it sits discreetly anywhere on the wall.
Like the hub-included 852110, the 852111 Mini supports OpenTherm modulation for compatible combi boilers — enabling the boiler to modulate its output and achieve Hive's quoted up to 12% extra gas savings over relay-only control. Ready By self-learning preheat, geolocation alerts, Holiday Mode, Heating History and optional Hive Plus energy-spend tools are all included. Controls heating only — for a hot water cylinder, see the Hive Hubless Mini V4 H+HW (852034).
Connects directly to your home 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi router via the receiver — no Hive Hub, Nano 3 or Ethernet cable required. Setup is in the Hive app in minutes.
On compatible combi boilers, OpenTherm enables the thermostat to send a precise water-temperature demand rather than a simple on/off signal — the boiler modulates its burner, achieving steadier room temperatures and Hive's quoted up to 12% extra gas savings.
The Ready By function calculates the exact lead time needed to reach the target temperature at each schedule block, firing the boiler early and adjusting automatically through the seasons.
Create a personalised weekly schedule via the touchscreen or Hive app. One-tap Boost overrides the schedule for up to 6 hours.
The Hive app detects when your phone leaves home and sends a push notification if heating is still on — one tap to turn it off remotely.
Works natively with Alexa, Google Assistant and Apple HomeKit for hands-free temperature adjustments and status checks — no additional bridge needed.

What is the difference between the 852111 and the 852110?
They are the same Mini V4 thermostat with the same features, including OpenTherm. The 852110 includes a Nano 3 Hub (and Ethernet cable, USB power lead) — useful when there is no free Wi-Fi port on the receiver or when the router is far away. The 852111 (this product) connects directly to your Wi-Fi without a hub — simpler and lower cost when your router and boiler area are close, or when you already own a Hive Hub.
Do I need a Hive Hub?
No — the 852111 connects directly to your home router via the receiver's built-in Wi-Fi. There is no need to buy or install a Hive Hub, Nano 3 or Ethernet bridge.
Does my combi boiler support OpenTherm?
Most modern condensing combi boilers from Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Viessmann, Ideal, Baxi and others support OpenTherm. If your boiler is not OpenTherm-compatible, the 852111 still works — it uses standard relay (on/off) control and all app and scheduling features remain available. Check hivehome.com/boiler-compatibility before ordering.
Can it control hot water?
No — the 852111 controls heating only. For a conventional boiler with a hot water cylinder, choose the Hive Hubless Mini V4 H+HW (852034).
