The Solis S2-WL-ST (USB) is the USB-connector version of Solis’ 2-in-1 Wi-Fi & LAN data logging stick — functionally identical to the 4-pin S2-WL-ST but designed specifically for Solis S6 series inverters which use a USB-type COM port. It provides both 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and wired Ethernet (LAN) via RJ45 in a single unit, connecting to SolisCloud every 5 minutes for real-time performance monitoring, fault alerts and remote management via the SolisCloud app (iOS and Android). The LAN port additionally supports Modbus TCP for direct local integration with Home Assistant and BMS platforms. Up to 10 inverters via RS485. Bluetooth for local configuration. Three LEDs: NET, COM, PWR. IP65. Dimensions: 112 × 34 × 49 mm, 89 g. 2-year warranty.

ℹ USB connector — Solis S6 series only: The USB-connector version (SOL-S2-WL-ST-USB) is designed for Solis S6 series inverters and any future models using a USB-type COM port. If your inverter has a 4-pin COM port (Solis 4G, 5G or S5 series), you need the S2-WL-ST (4-Pin) version instead. Check the Solis Datalogger Compatibility Guide at solis-service.solisinverters.com for your specific model.
⚠ Wi-Fi: 2.4 GHz only: The S2-WL-ST supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only (not 5 GHz). If your router uses band steering and causes connection issues, use the LAN (Ethernet) port instead — no Wi-Fi credentials needed. For 5 GHz support, the Solis S5-WiFi-ST (USB) is the alternative.
Key Features
USB Connector — Plug-and-Play into Solis S6 COM Port
The S2-WL-ST (USB) uses an Insert+Lock USB connector that plugs directly into the USB-type COM port on Solis S6 series inverters. The connector is touch-safe and locks in place to prevent accidental disconnection. No adapters or tools are required. The device draws its power directly from the inverter via the COM port.

Wi-Fi or LAN — Two Connection Paths in One Unit
The S2-WL-ST provides both 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi (802.11b/g/n) and a wired RJ45 Ethernet port. LAN is preferred when the inverter is near a router or switch: plug in an Ethernet cable and the device configures itself via DHCP automatically, with no Wi-Fi credentials to enter. Wi-Fi is available when cabling is impractical.

Wired LAN — Interference-Free, Maximum Stability
A wired Ethernet connection is immune to 2.4 GHz congestion, wall attenuation, band-steering failures and ISP router channel changes. For S6 inverters installed in basements, garages, outbuildings or metal enclosures where Wi-Fi penetration is poor, an Ethernet cable run to the nearest switch is the most reliable monitoring solution.

Modbus TCP via LAN — Home Assistant and Local BMS Integration
When connected via Ethernet, the S2-WL-ST supports Modbus TCP on port 502, enabling Home Assistant (SolaX Modbus integration or similar) and energy management systems to read inverter data directly over the local network. Access the built-in web interface at 10.10.100.254 (username: admin) to assign a static IP for reliable polling. Note: active third-party Modbus TCP polling will disconnect SolisCloud — parallel operation requires a separate RS485-to-Ethernet adapter.

For multi-inverter RS485 chains, the one-key address assignment function (via SolisCloud app over Bluetooth) automatically scans the bus and assigns sequential addresses to all connected inverters without manual entry on each display. Up to 10 inverters can be monitored through one logger.

Three LEDs — NET, COM, PWR — Instant On-Site Diagnosis
NET: internet/server connection. COM: RS485 inverter communication. PWR: power/hardware status. Each can be solid (ok), flashing (connecting) or off. Immediately identifies whether a failure is server, inverter or hardware-side without opening the app.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the USB and 4-pin versions of the S2-WL-ST?
The two versions are functionally identical — same Wi-Fi, LAN, Bluetooth, Modbus TCP, data interval, LEDs and all other specs. The only difference is the connector: the USB version plugs into the USB-type COM port on Solis S6 series inverters, using an Insert+Lock mechanism (112mm long, 89g). The 4-pin version plugs into the 4-pin COM port on Solis 4G, 5G and S5 series inverters, using an Insert+Screw mechanism (125mm long, 103g). If you are unsure which port your inverter has, check your inverter model: S6 in the model name = USB; 4G/5G/S5 in the model name = 4-pin.
Is Modbus TCP supported via the LAN port?
Yes. When connected via Ethernet, the S2-WL-ST exposes Modbus TCP on port 502. Access the built-in web interface at 10.10.100.254 (connect directly via Ethernet cable, username: admin, set password on first login) to configure a static IP address. Important: the S2-WL-ST accepts only one active TCP connection at a time. When a third-party client (e.g. Home Assistant) is polling via Modbus TCP, the logger disconnects from SolisCloud. For simultaneous cloud + local operation, a Waveshare RS485-to-Ethernet adapter connected in parallel to the inverter RS485 bus is the recommended approach.
Can I use Wi-Fi and LAN simultaneously?
No. The S2-WL-ST uses one connection at a time. LAN takes priority when an Ethernet cable is inserted. Wi-Fi is used when no cable is present.
Which Solis inverters have a USB COM port?
Solis S6 series inverters use a USB-type COM port. All earlier series (4G, 5G, S5 and before) use a 4-pin COM port. The easiest way to identify your inverter’s port type is to check whether the model name contains ‘S6’. Consult the official Solis Datalogger Compatibility Guide at solis-service.solisinverters.com for a full model list.
Is monitoring free on SolisCloud?
Yes. Standard monitoring via SolisCloud and the SolisCloud app is free. No subscription is required for residential or standard commercial use.
